October 4, 1983 Bardocz-Freeman Saturday, June 25, 1983 was a beautiful day for the marriage of Valorie Bardocz and Michael Freeman, both of Scugog Island. Scugog Island United Church was the setting for the afternoon wedding at 3:00 p.m. The bride was given in marriage by her parents. The service was officiated by Reverend Eldon Lin- stead. Mrs. Audrey Beauchamp was the soloist, Mrs. Edna Beckett was the organ- ist and Mr. Paul Chilco was the guitarist. The bride looked stunning in her floor length gown of chantilly lace, featuring bishop sleeves and a ruffle chapel train. Both the bodice and tk2 wedding band collar w.re sprin-. kled with seed pearls. A juliet cap of matching lace held a veil of silk illusion. The groom was out- standing in his tuxedo of black and white tails, black top hat and white gloves. Mrs. Shelley David- son, sister of the groom, was the matron of honour. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Anita Booth, friend of the bride, Miss Suzie Bardocz, Miss Sandra Bardocz, both sisters of the bride and Miss Jackie Freeman, cousin of the groom. The flower girl was Miss Karie Davidson, niece of the groom. The best man was Mr. Bruce Prentice, friend of the groom. The ushers were Mr. Dave Booth, friend of the groom, Mr. Dwayne Freeman, cousin of the groom, Mr. Bill Hurst, friend of the groom, and Mr. Randy Freeman, cousin of the groom. The matron of honour and the bridesmaids wore long pink dresses with removeable sheer jackets. The flower girl wore a white dress with short sheer sleeves and a white sash which was tied into a big bow at the back. The best man and the ushers wore dark gray three piece suits with pinstripe pants and black shoes. The bride carried a beautiful cascade of red roses. The matron of honour carried a lovely cascade of pink sweet- heart roses and minia- ture pink and white carnations. The brides- maids carried bouquets of the same flowers as the matron of honour, with pink silk ribbons from them. The flower girl carried a small basket of pink and light pink silk flowers. The groom wore a red rose backed with babies breath and the ushers -each-wore a pink rose . backed with babies breath. Co The bride and groom left the church in a black 1940 Ford Road- ster, with the convert- ible top down, belonging to the groom's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Don Freeman of Scugog Island. The wedding party travelled in a white and blue bus, driven by Mr. Gary Davidson, brother-in- law of the groom, which was decorated with flowers and signs. The bus is owned by the groom's parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Free- man Jr. of Scugog Island. Once driving through Port Perry, they all headed for Cullen Gardens for pictures. The reception was held at the Royal Can- adian Legion Hall in Port Perry. The Legion Ladies prepared a del- icious dinner for every- one at 6:30.The bride's uncle, Mr. George Bardocz of Willowdale, was the master of cere- monies. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Freeman are residing in their Port Perry apart- ment. Showers Prior to her marriage, the bride was entertain- ed at several showers. A miscellanous shower was held at the home of Mrs. Lynda Jeffrey, Port Perry, which was attended by fellow employees from the Bank of Commerce. Mrs. Anita Booth hosted a neighborhood shower al her home on Scugog Island. The sister of the groom, Mrs. Shelly Davidson was hostess to a family and friend shower at the home of Mrs. Ethel Freeman on Scugog Island. Mrs. Helen Redman and Mrs. Doreen Adam held a large miscellaneous shower at Helen's home on Scugog Island. This shower was attended by most of the women belonging to the Scugog Island UCW groups. A final shower was held in Toronto with the bride's step-mother as hostess. This was attended by the bride's family. The groom was also entertained at a stag hosted by Dwayne Free- man, Dave Booth and Joe Giroux. Following the rehear- sal, the bridal party and friends were entertain- ed at the groom's parent's home. Mrs. Betty Ann Free- man and Miss Tammy Freeman assisted with serving the luncheon for the group. Selders-Harris The wedding of Wendy Elizabeth Selders and David Mark Harris took place June 4, 1983 at Port Perry Baptist Church. Wendy is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Selders, Richmond Hill, Ontario. David is the son of Mrs. Mary Harris, Port Perry. In the spirit of Christmas joy, friends, parents, grandparents and family assembled at the Hope C.R. Church of Port Perry to ask God's blessing upon the marriage of Yvonne Fennema and Theo Pypker, August 27, 1983 with Pastor C. Geylense officiating. The bride was escort- ed down the aisle by her father and both the parents of the bride, Mr. and Mrs. Andy Fenn- ema of Manchester and the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Pypker of Bow- manville, gave their blessing to Yvonne and Theo, and promised support in their new life together. The bride was lovely in a cathedral length gown of white silk crepe de chine and embroid- ered alecon lace. The gown had a softly pleat- ed full skirt with a dropped waist. The fitt- ed bodice of alecon lace featured long lily-point sleeves closing with pearl buttons and dec- orated with seed pearls. Her jewellery included garnet earnings, a gift from her aunt and uncle and a gold locket, a gift from her grandparents at her confirmation. A juliet cap held the cathedral length veil, both decorated with alecon lace and seed pearls. She carried a geometric bouquet of lilies and pink roses accented with baby's breath and unusual greenery. Ingrid Pypker, sister of the groom was maid of honour. She wore an ankle length pastel pink douppioni silk gown in the same style as the bride's but with soft puffed sleeves and a matching head piece decorated with silk flowers and netting. Bridesmaids were Valerie Fennema, sister of the bride, Lisa Mc- Kinzey, friend of the -bride and Irene Pypker; sister-in-law of the bride and groom. All were gowned in rose doupp- ioni silk in the same style as the maid of honour. All the bridal attendants wore pearl necklaces, a gift from the bride. The groom and his best man, Larry Dekkema, of New- market, cousin of - the groom were handsome- ly attired in black tuxedos cumberbunds and bow ties. The ushers were Edward Pypker, brother of the groom, Greg Rudka, a former university classmate and Ivan DeJong, friend of the groom. The reception was held in the Livi Pavillion in Oshawa and Mr. Tony Sytsma, friend of the bride and groom's family was the capable M.C. for the evening. The bride's mother greeted guests in a formal length deep pink georgette jacketed gown assisted by the groom's mother in a formal rose silk crepe de chine. Following the dinner speeches and dancing, Yvonne and Theo donn- ed travelling clothes for their wedding trip to Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Yvonne chose a red wool knit sheath dress and a teal blue wide rimmed felt hat and matching silk scarf. Theo was equally handsome in a blue pin stripe suit. The happy couple pre- sently reside in Scarbor- ough. Yvonne is a student at T.I.M.T. and Theo, a recent York University graduate is employed with Pypker Enterprises in Bowman- ville. Prior to her wedding, Yvonne and Theo were honoured by gifts and showers by friends and family. Lisa and Diane Mec- Kinzey of Manchester hosted a kitchen shower and Ingrid Pypker host- ed a miscellaneous shower at the home of her aunt Engaline Dekkema of New- market. Best man, Larry Dekkema hosted: a Jack and Jill in honour of the bridal couple. Fellow workers at G.M. treated the bride-to-be lunch and presented her with a gift.
