Port Perry Minor Hockey League resulis "BANTAM Consumers Gas - 6 Emmerson's Ins. -5 Consumers Gas made it seven victories in a row when they won on Saturday morning over Emmerson's Insurance 6-5. This victory did not come easy for the Gas Works, as they had to work hard to hold on to the win as the rewrite came back late in the third period by scoring three times giving the Gas Works some uneasy moments. Mike Brock scored to give Emmersons an early 1-0 lead, then Joe Hamilton got the Gas Works back at even terms 1-1, at the end of the first period. Derek Taylor picked up an assist on Brock's goal. The second period was much the same as the first with no one giving in. Both teams traded some close calls around ithe nets but when the period was over, it was still tied up 2-2. Steve McTavish scored for Emmerson with help from Jason Petrie and Chris Logan. Lionel Deknecht scored for Consumers from Allen Shepstone. When the third period got underway who would expect Jumbo Joe to get things underway so quickly at the 34 second mark, he did just that. Then the Gas Works were underway as they scored four un- answered goals. Ham- ilton getting two, Cary Dowson and Deknecht his second of the day. Assisting on these goals were Logan 2, Jim Jack- man 2 and Dowson. Then things got hot for the Gas Works as Emmersons turned on the burners with 5:30 to go when Jason Bert- rand, David Irvine and Mike Brock with his second, made life an . agony for the Gas Works Taylor, McTavish along with Brock added assists. Cochrane's - 3 IGA-1 The Cochrane Trotters started out the 8th part of the schedule with a bang, finally gett- ing out of the slump winning 3-1 over the IGA lads. The IGA team made it tough on the Trotters before they pulled out the win. The bundle carriers took an early lead, and held on until the second period. Frank Van- Veghel gave the IGA it's early lead, then at 9:22 in the second period, Jeff Crone got his first of three. Terry Bache with two assists, Flip McBride and Chris Watson each had one apiece. This game was a real. struggle much like the encounter before Christmas, when it end- ed in a 3-3 deadlock, from there both teams had trouble winning. But today, Cochrane's came out on top 3-1. Next week there's a change in times: Emmersons at IGA - 7:00 A.M.; Consumers at Cochranes 6:30 P.M.
