The boys did not play as well as they could but still well enough to win 3-1. Sean Bradbury pro- vided the spark and Gerry Douma the hustle to encourage some of the younger kids to play well. Young McCully and Ryan Free spread some nice passes around. Bradbury got 2 of our goals and Brian " Appleby fired in a beauty at the end of a super bit of skating. Scugog Township Mayor Jerry Taylor (left) was on hand last Thursday morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony fo mark the official opening of Scugog The first game at the Lefroy Tournament was a disappointing one for the Port Perry boys. We were playing the host team and not too many things went our way. Vernon and Durward could not find the spark and the team missed Douma. On several occasions Appleby used his strength to advant- age and broke through from defence but was unlucky in finishing. Phil Teno got our only goal and his first of the season in our 3-1 defeat. The first game on Sun- day against Thornhill was really exciting with og Matt Durward playing his best game of the season. All the players were encouraged by his and Jim Vernon's efforts. Ryan Free got 'Port's first goal and then came Durward's hat-trick for which he won the game's M.V.P. In the consolation final Wellesley hammered the Port boys who just did not seem to have their act together. The Stone kids enjoyed their outing but need to play more con- sistently as a team, passing the puck to each other and learning to play positional hockey. Chrysler in Manchester. The start of the second was much the same until we were assessed the only 4 penalties of the game. This left us 2 players 66 Brock SI.
