Failing health in terfered Residents saddened Seagrave and Area News by Marilyn Beacock ~ The residents of Seagrave were deeply saddened when we were notified of the passing of a well-loved and widely known member of our community, the late Mrs. Anne Clements, late last week. Until fail- ing health during the past few years in- terfered, the late Mrs. Clements was a very ac- tive person in the com- munity and the church, and was well known for her wise and witty per- sonality. She also was a news correspondent for this column Yor several years. There is little doubt that she has left an indelible mark on this community. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in- law Enid and Murdock Belair as well as a host of relatives, neighbours and friends. We extend our sincerest sympathy to her loved ones at this time. The Mariposa Ladies Group had a most in- teresting meeting on January 11, at the home of Mrs. Sandy McCully when they had the pleasure of having Mr. and Mrs. Waite of Non- quon Travel in Port Perry as their guest speakers for the evening. The Waite's provided the gals with loads of ex- citing and informative travel ideas. After this recent cold snap we've been enduring, a talk about the warm climate of a south sea island would be mighty appeal- ing, don't you think? Mrs. Laura Longo will be the hostess for their next meeting scheduled to be held on Feb. 8th. Chocolate and cake decorating will be demonstrated that even- ing by Mrs. Dot Hooker of Greenbank who is gaining quite a reputa- tion for her '"'works of art' with chocolate goodies and beautifully decorated cakes for every occasion. Be sure to set that date aside girls! Congratulations to lit- tle Kimberley Fabiano who invited several little friends over on Friday to help her celebrate her Sth birthday. Also . birthday greetings go out to Leslie Durward who added another candle to his cake last week to make 10 this year. Happy Bir- thday, Kids! Get well wishes are ex- tended to Laura Longo who has recently undergone surgery and to our other members of our community who still remain on the sick list. Miss Logan Tindall of Sandford spent a week visiting with the Beacock family while her parents enjoyed a warm and relaxing holiday in Mexico. The temperature hovered around 85° F while Karen and Mel were there. Too bad they couldn't have brought some back with them! We extend sympathy to Mr. Reg Abraham and family in the recent loss of Reg"s brother in Peterborough last week. Congratulations to Bruce and Suzanne Malcolm upon the ar- rival of a beautiful little niece who just happened to be the first baby girl of the New Year to arrive at the Community Memorial Hospital. The proud and happy parents are Suzanne's brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Don Hockley of Port Perry. I imagine that this little niece has a cou- ple of adoring cousins, namely Jeffrey and Lisa Malcolm who will be avidly waiting to help spoil her!
