Janvary 24, 1984 -- 31 Supports local sports and other endeavours by John D. Christie Public Relations and Youth Education Officer, Branch 419 The new addition to our hall on Bay St. has been finished to the extent the contract call- ed for. The lower por- tion has been painted and is now ready for furnishing when the committee in charge settles on what to do. The upstairs portion will be refurbish at a later date. Our Pee Wee A Hockey team, under the able direction of John Harman, coach, who is a member of our branch, is doing reason- ably well, both in league play and tournaments. You read about this in other parts of this paper each week. The men's ball team that we sponsor, under the direction of Doug Scott, did reasonably well this summer. We look forward to sponsor- ing it next year. The lob ball team, made of members of the branch 30 years and over did pretty well this past summer. Under the able management of Ted Wilkinson (Robbi), the team ended up in third place in league play. Didn't do too well in playoffs. Still on sports etc. must give a big allocade to Wayne Moore, Sports officer of the branch, for organizing teams to go to zone competitions in the area. Some of these are Euchre, darts, shuffleboard and others I don't know about. Winners from these competitions can go on to District and up the ladder to Provincial competition. Now, this writer would like to give a great big thanks to all members who sit on the various committees that are within the branch. They do a terrific job for the committee they sit on, and for the branch as a whole. Especially the membership comm- ittee - they would like any member who hasn't paid their dues for 84, please come to the hall and do so at your earl- iest convenience.
