I. haa 24 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, April 10, 1984 Dual celebration marks longtime anniversary Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Dual Celebration of Interest A very lovely event was held on Saturday, April 7th, 1 to 4 p.m. at the McNeely residence, Williams Point, when a dual celebration took place - Daisy's 80th birth- day and Stan and Daisy's 57th wedding anniver- sary. Approximately 150 guests were in atten- dance to wish them the best. Attractive floral ar- rangements were in evidence about the home from relatives and friends, and many ex- citing gifts were receiv- ed for this unique occa- sion. Well over one hun- dred cards were also received. In a casual, friendly at- mosphere a great varie- ty of delicious food was in abundance and enjoyed by all - prepared by Dorothy and Marg Lee of Nestleton. The beautiful cake was made and decorated by a grand- daughter. The refreshments were top- ped off with excellent coffee and tea. Folks were present from- Peterborough, Toronto, Scarborough, Richmond Hill, Orillia, Oshawa, Port Perry, and many local friends and neighbours. Daisy's two sisters were present from Midland and Whit- by. A once'in a lifetime celebration. As Stan and Daisy continue the voyage of life together - we wish for them - clear sailing, serenity, much happiness and good health - a grand deserv- ing couple! Welcome Home A warm welcome home to Horace (Joe) and Doris Grills of Caesarea, who have spent the winter months in Zethyrhills, Florida - located just north of Tampa. They found the first part of the winter cold - but February and March with really ideal weather. The Grills ar- rived home the latter part of March and the family had a fine get together in Caesarea to extend a great welcome home. Family News Chris Davis, Hyde Inn, St. Christopher, "hosted a party for hus- band Cliff's 65th birthday on Friday evening with forty friends present to help him celebrate. An enjoyable "festive par- ty' with birthday cake ..and all the trimmings - a great success! Our very best wishes to Cliff! Dr. Howard L. Gauthier, East quarter line, Nestleton, has just celebrated his 70th birth- day. His family in North Bay held a fine party for him to help celebrate. Dr. Howard's health problems are now pretty well over and he is look- ing forward to resuming his Chiropratic business in June. Our warmest wishes!" Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Janice and the children have been attending Nestleton United Church and we trust they will make many. friends and enjoy our services. Richard has been work- ing weekends so is unable to attend at pre- sent. It is great to have the young families mov- ing into the vicinity and taking an interest in activities. Mrs. Mabel Cawker at- tended the annual meeting of Honeydale Branch of the Women's Institute held in the Municipal Hall, Port Perry, on Thursday afternoon. A fine number of members on hand, en- thused and ready for ac- tion in the year ahead. Two cute little boys, Chad and Craig Holland, Bowmanville, spent Fri- day with Grandma and Grandpa Fish of Nestleton. They were good as gold and grand- parents enjoyed their company very much. Executive Meeting An executive meeting of Nestleton U.C.W. was held at the home of Mrs. Neta Fish this past week with seven members pre- sent. Mrs. Bernice Mairs chaired the meeting. Pertinent items of business were discussed at some length and deci- sions reached. The hostess served lovely refreshments at the close. Caesarea Euchre A very good atten- dance as usual at the Ladies Auxiliary card party and results as follows: Collette Larocque- 92. Gayle Paige- 79. Low- Evva Davidge - 47. A euchre will be held this Wednes- day evening - same place - same time. A pleasant night out with neighbours and friends. Refreshments were served. Beautification Committee Meeting The next meeting of Scugog Township Beautification Commit- tee will be held in the Railroadhouse Motel, Port Perry, Wednesday, April 18th, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Plan to come and see our slides. We are pleased to announce that Mrs. Caesarea, is secretary of the committee and Mrs. Diane Pearce is treasurer. Shirley is also area director for Caesarea. For informa- tion call 986-5330. Annual Meeting of Nestleton W.1. Branch The Nestleton Branch met in the community centre, Wednesday, April 4, with President, Mrs. Norma Frew presiding. She welcomed the ten members pre- sent, opening with the Ode and Collect and read a poem entitled "Spring Fever." The roll call- payment of dues. Minutes were approved as read by sec.-treas. Mrs. Marg Francis. Cor- respondence included a letter re- the Hospital Auxiliary Spring Fair to be held in Latcham Cen- tre, April 28. Donations were asked for and Mrs. Rika Wygerde offered to pick up the items of bak- ed goods, etc., and take them over to the Fair. The Executive planning meeting report of Durham West District Annual was presented by Mrs. Wygerde, which is to be held in Blackstock United Church, May 23, registration at 9:15 a.m. A sing-song gave members a break - with Mrs. Gwen Malcolm at the piano. Annual Meeting: Minutes of 1983 annual were read by Mrs. France. Encouraging reports were given by convenors of standing committees and public relations officer showing a good year of progress in W.I1. work. Pres.
