Irene Train. Numerous thank you notes were read from folks who rec'd fruit "baskets and other dona- tions. 35 fruit baskets were sent out for Christmas cheer this year. The following don- ations were given: $100.00 to a burned-out family; $50.00 to crippl- ed children (snow- arama); $25.00 Big Brothers; $25.00 to Port Perry Hospital Found- ation building fund also $25.00 to Port Perry Hospital fund (in memory of the late' Bruce Heaslip); $100.00 to Cancer Research; $25.00 to Hospital Auxil- - iary Spring Fair. A discussion was held on upcoming banquets - members decided to raise the dinner price to $7.00 per plate. Lunch was provided by Doro- thy Lee and Irene Train and a social hour was enjoyed. Next meeting April 30, 8 p.m. at the home of Shirley Jacks- on. You were missed Marg Jones - Do hope you are feeling better soon! Family Events A warm welcome home to Roy and Doris Nottingham of Caesarea who have enjoyed a few months vacation in Largo, Florida - a super winter! They had an interesting cruise in January to Nassau in the Bahamas - leaving from Maimi, Florida. The trip was arranged by the Midway Trailer Park where they reside during the winter months. This past Saturday evening Roy and Doris celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary "hosted" by their immediate family with a festive dinner at 'The Gate Restaurant' in Port Perry. All -smembers of the family were able to attend - a fine get-to-gether. After the dinner they came back to Caesarea for the remainder of the cele- bration. Our very best wishes for many more happy years to Roy and Doris. Sunday guests with Horace and Doris Grills of Caesarea were Nel- son and Rosina Brad- burn of Lindsay. Rosina is Horace Grill's twin sister. A nice, informal visit! Recent guests of Law- Point Rd. were: Grant and Merna Cawker, Cathy, Curtis and friend Rob Smith, all of Oshawa, Ken Bragg, Bowmanville and Mike and © Pat Dearborn, R.R.1 Nestleton. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Jacobs, Deanna and Rhonda of Blackstock were supper guests with Grahame and Neta Fish on Saturday evening - a birthday celebration for Ron. Our very best wishes! Blue Ray Chapter Past Officers Night With a number of members on hand from Cartwright area - past matrons and ' past patrons were the honoured guests for the evening, and a cordial welcome was extended by worthy matron Elsa Bongard and worthy patron Chris Dennis. Many dignitaries were present and greeted warmly in the East. After the flag was presented by Marshal Stella Dennis and welcomes extended quite a lengthy business period ensued. Easter plants will again be given to the ill and shut-ins this year as part of our benevolent work Elsie Wilbur convening same. Keep in mind - the mammoth bake sale and flea market to be held at the Masonic Hall on Sat. May 5. If weather per- mits the tables will be outside on the lawn. Parking at the back of the hall. After chapter closed and officers retired - entertainment followed with a good deal of merriment. Draws on boxes of groceries were held con- vened by Marjorie Mc- Combe - money to be used for Estarl - which is a fund set aside to train young men and women in religious leadership. Refresh- ments were served by the committee in charge and a fine social hour enjoyed by all before wending their way homeward. The choir rendered the favourite "The Old Cross' - 1913 era- re- newed - 1941. Malcolm, organist. The minister Rev. Dale Davis had a special message for the young folks, as well as for the congregation entitled "Who Is This'? Sacra- ment of the Lord's Supper was observed. Welcoming at the door were: Glenn and Arlene Malcolm and family. Lovely mums graced the Sanctuary for the occasion. Keep in mind: Good Friday Service, April 20, 11 am. at Nestleton United Church for the Pastoral Charge. A special ser- vice - with special music. MOTIVES Rugged Mrs. G. provide finger food. So glad Mr. Cecil Henderson, St. Chris- topher, is finally on the mend in Oshawa Hosp- ital, and will soon be looking forward to being home again. Nestleton United Church Women Meet Mrs. Gwen Malcolm, Nestleton, was hostess for the April meeting held on Tuesday after- noon commencing at 1 p.m. Due to our Presi- dent being ill, Gwen presided and welcomed the nine members and read an article entitled "The Message". Roll call - an Easter verse or hymn. A very effective worship period was con- ducted by Mrs. Neta Fish and Mrs. Gwen Malcolm-theme- 'The Easter Story' opening with the old traditional Easter hymn - 'Jesus Christ is risen today". Scripture taken 'from Matthew and read by Mrs. Irene McKee. A closing hymn and Prayer concluded this portion. Minutes were read by "Sec"y Mrs. Barb Weir and approved and corr- espondence dealt with. Cards were sent to the ill and one member celebrating her birth- day on Tues. Treas. Mrs. Neta Fish present- ed the monthly financial statement with a good balance on hand. Oshawa Presbytery will meet in Nestleton Unit- ed Church April 17 at 8 p.m. Mrs. Leona Sadler gave a run down of items needed for the Spring Smorgasbord. The Good Friday Church Service for the pastoral charge will be held in Nestleton United - a cordial welcome to Blackstock folks to join with us 'in this special service - joyous Easter music will be featured. Mrs. Neta Fish gave a interesting topic dealing with the 23rd psalm - versions in different countries. This was followed by Gwen read- ing 'Prayers for busy people'. The May meet- ing will be held in the Church, Friday May 11 at 8 p.m. Special speaker will be Mrs. Marilyn Wallace of Port Perry - her topic - "A Touch of China and it's People". She will be Court ladies pledge money to worthy causes showing her colourful slides - mainly taken by Marilyn herself depict- ing an amazing few weeks along with other Canadians in the People's Republic. Don't miss this special meeting - should prove most interesting! After the meeting closed with Benediction - a Bunny contest was a bit of fun - each member was asked to display her artistic skill in drawing a Bunny. Barb Weir was the winner with Janice MacKenzie coming in second. Lunch was served by Neta Fish, Irene McKee and the hostess - Gwen. Barb Weir gave the words of appreciation. Combined choirs to sing at Easter Sun. service Epsom Area News By Jean Jeffery Shirley Pospolita of Langley B.C. and her sister of Barrie visited at the Walter Kerry home on Saturday. The Youth Group are sponsoring their annual supper April 27 at 6:30. This will be the Social Club meeting for the month to be held at Epsom Church. There will be an evening of cards after the supper. On Good Friday morning at 10:30 there will be a service follow- ed by lunch. Ladies Easter Sunday service will also be held at Utica. The combined Utica and Goodwood choir will present a Cantata. There will be a baptismal service for three wee boys. There will be a shower on Sat. afternoon April 28 at 2 p.m. at the home of Shirley Baster. All ladies are welcome to this community shower in honour of the bride to be - Margaret Taylor. Several from the community attended the musical last week. Beth and Doug Wilson were very much involv- ed with the in Uxbridge "kids crusade' at the Ux- bridge Baptist Church every evening last week. They were pleas- ed to have an attend- ance of about 300. Dianne and Eric Benns and family of Uxbridge were supper guests on Sun. with her parents, Alan and Norine Card. Didi Page attended a Weavers and Spinners conference. On Sunday guests at the Pat Thorme home were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Someren of Port Perry. Didi and her mother were celebrat- ing their birthdays. Congratulations to Jason Van Veghel who celebrated his 12th birthday on Wednesday. Lois Bushell visited her father Sunday morning. Lorne and Lucille Wagner of Ash- worth were visiting Howard and Ruth Ash- ton on Monday evening last week. Allan and Joyce Ashton and family of Oakwood were Sunday supper guests with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. Ashton.
