It is also pleasant to have Madeline and Bob Cawker back after an extended vacation in England and the Guern- sey Islands with Made- line's relatives. We frequently see Joyce and Alvin Heayn from Haliburton as they are preparing a home in Port Perry to which we shall welcome their return and hope to see them frequently when they are settled. Those who sang in individual numbers were Archie Walker, Ethel Freeman, Betty Reader, Nick Henshaw, Bev. Thompson, Lodi Raffin, Reta Brown, Chelso Raffin, Lois and Harold Luke. Music fills church hall instruments. The 10 girls of the Junior Choir from the oldest to youngest were very interested and did a fine job of singing a variety of songs. We cannot express enough appreciation to the many people who spend hours in sewing, preparing artistic pro- gram folders, arranging stage effects, choice of musical numbers, planning the costuming, driving from other areas for hours of practice, and sacrifice of personal time. Fin- ally those who prepare lunch for the climax of a wonderful evening. We hope they never give up. One of the Jr. Choir members, Darlene Adam, was looking for- ward to a bus load of 40 people going to Quebec on Sat. for 4 days. The '"Head" U.C.W. will meet tonight Wed. We hear that Mrs. Michael Lang of Aldred's Beach has been ill for over a month and in hospitals a couple of times. Pneumonia problems have not cleared away. We hope she may have recovery without surgery. We extend sympathy to the Burrows family of McLaren's Beach in the recent decease of Mrs. Burrows, and also for 2 other bereavements within the approx. same week. During lunch Aileen and Fred Olsen were sur- prisingly remembered and honoured regarding their approaching wedd- ing anniversary. April must be the month for anniversar- ies. Former residence of Prince Albert George and Della Skerratt cele- brated their 50th on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Van Gimhoven's our friendly store own- ers are married 36 years on Monday. Congratu- lations to each one of you from your friends in the village. Bryan and Judy Bea- cock and son Philip joined with relatives at the Allison house, Blackstock for Easter " Sunday dinner. Spending the weekend with Bill and Earline Armstrong is their daughter Brenda and husband Wayne and granddaughter Chan- tilly of Sterling. Grandparents, par- ents and friends from our midst attepded the most enjoyable play "Cloak 01 = Ermine" staged by Cornish School Drama Club, 3 evenings last week. On Saturday evening it was ladies night at the Mason's Lodge, Port Perry. Those attending the dance were Bill and Earline Armstrong, Brian and Dawna Arm- strong and Mr. and Mrs. Norris Doughty of Cedar Creek. Lynn Poole of Bell- ville is spending the weekend with her parents Ron and Betty Deeth. Sunday April 29th, the Les Beacocks entertain- ed his sisters, Mrs. M. Tarves, Miss O. Bea- cock, Mr. and Mrs. T. Cole all of Oshawa. The occasion being one wedding anniversary and three birthdays. Sorry to hear that Hugh Strong is in hospital. Hope your stay will not be long. Saturday evening was a special night for the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts when they had their Father and Son Banquet at Manchester. The weekly euchre was well attended this past week with eleven tables. Winners for the evening Ladies - Pat Norton, Marlene Skinner, Verna Draper. Men - llean Pugh, Lloyd Fawns, Mildred Thomp- son. Any men who like to play cards come on out as we are nearly always short on men. Don't forget about the Flea Market and Bake Sale at the Community Centre Sat.
