May 23, 1984 -- 35 their vehicles with the Transportation and Com- munications Ministry by June 1st. No vehicle can be registered to anyone under age 16. A one-time registra- tion fee of $25 will be re: quired. On registration owners will be supplied with a vehicle permit and a license plate. The drive must carry the per- mit at all times and the license must be mounted in clear view ---- on the front of two or three wheel vehicles and on the rear of those with four or more wheels. License plates for off- road vehicles are already on sale and can be obtained by any motor vehicle licensing office. Why is the province re- quiring off-road vehicles be licensed? With the in- creased popularity of these vehicles, there has been an increase in vehi- cle theft and complaints by landowners of off- road vehicle operators trespassing and damag- ing property. Licensing, therefore, protects the off-road vehicle operator. If their vehicle is lost or stolen, the license will easily identify it. Landowners are pro- tected also. If they see off-road vehicles trespassing on their land, they can identify who the culprits are because of the clearly mounted license plates. On August 1, 1984, off- road vehicle operators" will need to have liabili- ty insurance, just like the First 4-H meeting held at church hall by Donna Kerry Our first 4-H meeting was held Monday May 14 at Manchester Church Hall. There were five 4-H members present holding the following executive positions: President - Laura Lee Taylor; Vice - Jennifer Vugts;, Trea- surer - Marita Kersten; Secretary - Angela Clodd and Pres Report- er - Donna Kerry. Our leaders for this project are Mrs. Kingstone and Mrs. Wanninkhof. This club is aimed at teaching members about gardening and growing plants success- fully and how to beaut- ify the home and farm with the use of horti- culture. All gardens must include 10 vege- tables plus one new vegetable never grown by the member. Sugges- tions for the home-farm beautification project include: planting a flower garden, planting trees, building a rock garden etc. This horticulture club is a great way to be involved in 4-H through- out the summer. operators of other motor vehicles. Operators will not be allowed to drive their vehicles on a highway, excepting | New rules set for province off-road vehicles farmers using equip- ment involved with pro- duction and when the driver of the vehicle has a valid driver's license.
