Cn | -------------------- ET -------- There She Goes super fun effort There's nothing like a good school play to get the giggles rolling. And that's precisely what happened last Thursday night when Cartwright Central Public School presented There She Goes, an amusing look at what happens when a prudish spinster starts writing steamy love stories and makes it big in Holly- wood. Lisa Murray took on the leading role as Tessie Trask, the spin- ster with nothing more to do than worry about what her baby brother, her house and what looks right. That is, until she writes the notorious book There She Goes under the pen name Scarlet White and be- comes the toast of the literary world. Kevin Gibson played Tessie's brother Tommy, a wimp who turns into the town's playboy after his sister ruins his romance with pretty Grace Bowers, played by Kris Bayley. Cindy Leach is Essie Lovejoy, the nosey maid who unravels Scarlet White's true identity: Tammy Wallace is Mattie Perkins, the orneriest, homeliest, busybody south of the Georgia line with an accent to match. Bryan Beatty is her equally downhome beau Peter Wheeler, who like the Mounties, always gets the girl - eventually. Rounding out the cast is Tracy Churchill, Melissa Stevens, Mindy Kellow, Kelly Thistel, Niki Bardeleben, Lynne Moore, Lisa Hudson and Brad Traves. Bethany Schryburt, a member of the Borel- ians and a parent, produced and directed the school's second annual drama night. She directed last year's as well. Both cast and crew of There She Goes should be commended on a job well done. The play was both funny and ambit- ious, with several tough scenes that were handl- ed smoothly by the young actors and act- resses. As Principal John Hinch pointed out at the end of the performance, a drama tradition has now been established at CCPS and if There She Goes is the standard by which all future plays will follow, the comm- unity will be in for some fine theatre for many years to come.
