Nestleton - Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Community Interests Debbie Lee, daughter of Neil and Marg Lee, Nestleton, graduated from Trent University, Peterborough, on Friday afternoon, June 1, with an outdoor ceremony. Attending the impressive event were parents Neil and Marg Lee, brother David, grandmother Mrs. Arthur McColl of Nestleton, aunt Mrs. Don Morey, Oshawa and her great-aunt Mrs. Lottie Booth and -uncle Mr. Harvey Connors of Scar- borough. After Convoca- tion, a buffet dinner was held at the home of her parents. Present for this special celebration were aunt and uncle Mr. and Mrs. John Elliott and cousins Erin and Megan, Oshawa; uncle Mr. Donald Morey, cousin Donna Lee, Mr. Ernie Dart of Bethany and friend Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reid and Marni of Oshawa. Our warmest congratulations to Deb- bie Lee re- her graduation! The Caesarea Girl Guides participated in Girl Guide Days at Canada's Wonderland. There were 13 girls and 3 leaders who camped overnight on Friday and enjoyed the fun of the rides and shows on Saturday. Breakfast and lunch was supplied by Wonderland as part of this special occasion. A fine outing for Girls and Leaders. The newly formed evening Unit of the Nestleton U.C.W. hosted a get-acquainted evening at the Nestleton United Church on Thursday, May 31. Unit leader- Arlene Malcolm welcom- ed 20 ladies from the afternoon unit, evening unit and guests Anita Davis and Pat Beech. Arlene led the devo- tional with hymns and worship -- many members taking part. This was followed by Prayer. Guest speaker Pat Beech, Greenwood, who is the President of the Oshawa Presbyterial United Church Women, outlined the basic struc- ture of the U.C.W. and gave many helpful sug- gestions as to reading material and programs. Upcoming events were discussed and a question and answer period followed. The Units will operate separately until the end of the year at which time an executive will be elected at a general mee'ing. A social hour was of in- terest with refreshments provided by Kay Not- man, Carol Doyle and Yvonne Priebe. Arlene Malcolm presented a gift to Pat Beech in apprecia- tion for her assistance. Bernice Mairs- President of the afternoon U.C.W. thanked the ladies for in- viting the older group to their get-acquainted party. Nestleton United Church A fine service at Nestleton United Church with a good attendance. Brownies, Beavers, Cubs, Guides and Scouts of the community were welcomed by the minister Rev. Dale Davis. Those who have attended their respective level of achievement emblems in Religion in Life work were: Karen Doyle- Level 2- presented by Guide Leader- Wendy Dyer. Ken Weir- Level 4 presented by his father Arthur Weir, District » Commissioner of Scouting. The youngsters also participated in the service by reading the portions of Scripture. Rev. Dale Davis has a most appropriate message entitled 'Signs and Symbols" based on Genesis 9: 8-17 and Mat- thew 16: 13-20. The choir sang, "'Help Somebody y."
