Putt- ing together the only hits they garnered all night the Legion team was able to nullify an excellent pitching per- formance by Whitby's Mark Coutu. Leading off the 8th inning, Bill St. John singled between the legs of the shortstop as the ball took a weird hop at the last second. after a strike out, Ken Bryant sacrificed St. John to second base on a well executed bunt. Colin Wackett then singled to left field and proceeded to round all the bases when the charging out- fielder missed the ball on a bad bounce for the second time in the inning. Lawrie Williams rounded out the hitting with a single to right field, but was stranded when Grant Jackson struck out to end the inning. John Annis started the game and pitched 6 innings before giving way to Lawrie Williams who was credited with the win. Port gave up 5 hits, while striking out 18.
