For Epsom Public School, The Move mark- ed a successful first attempt at the difficult and often frustrating task of theatre. And yet the show was a delight, bursting with action and song. The Move follows a month or so in the life of young Harold Casey, played by Paul Kett, who is forced to move to a new town when his father (Alec Cranmer) is transferred. Like many young boys in the same situation, Harold finds it difficult to fit in, to make new . friends and to achieve in school. His sister Susan (played by Karen Collins) has similar pro- blems in spite of encouragement offered by their mother (Krista Barkey). Ginny van Veghel, Julia Croxall, Michelle Smith and Collette Bert- rand filled out the cast, turning the short play into an intriguing look at early adolescence. Teachers Mr. Sawtell and Mrs. Lewis directed The Move. Mrs. Raines helped with scenery and Mrs. Coates was in charge of the music, which was performed by a 32 member choir. The choir added a light heart to the per- formance with songs like Jamaica Farewell and Yesterday (with a solo by Jason van Veghel). There was a review of past activities and plans for future events - Gr. 7 group at the Scugog Museum, papering at the Manse, Hospital wing opening, Murray Sat. June 16, Pioneer Days at the Scugog Museum - June 30 and July 1st, Strawberry Supper - Wednesday, July 4th. On Sunday at the Island United, several cottagers were welcom- ed while regular adher- ents had gone to other areas. We were remind- ed that next Sunday will be a special day for Sunday School and adults when promotions are announced. After the Service, all are invited to take part in a Congregational picnic with pot luck sandwich- es shared with supplied ice cream and bever- ages. As Rev. Tansley will be in Ottawa, Rev. Piercy will conduct the Services. Sunday June 24 will be Rev. Don Tansley's last official service with us. The Service will cele brate Holy Communion. We trust everyone will try to be present to show our appreciation for his encouragement and leadership toward call- ing a full time ordained minister. Two Sundays in July Rev. Piercy will conduct the Services. The Induction Service for Rev. Brian Robinson has been changed and will likely be Friday, July 13.
