12 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, June 26, 1984 Epsom Public School held its annual Awards Day June 20 with a capacity crowd of students and parents on hand. The pro- gram included the presentation of Bars and Trophies, the introduction of the graduates and a Valedictorian Address by Wendy Evans. Above is the Grade 6 Graduating Class: from left back- Paul Kett, Glenn White, John Rankin, Alec Cranmer, Jason van Veghel. Front left- Julie Croxall, Karen Collins, Alexis Sterritt, Wendy Evans, Krista Barkey and Heather Munro. Trophies were also awarded at Epsom School to students for other achievements. Back left: Wendy Evans received the Tony Goslin Memorial Trophy for Sportsmanship and Effort in a Junior Grade; Sarah Steven- son received the Jeffrey Begin Memorial Trophy for effort and determination in a primary grade; and Alec Cranmer received the Proficiency Trophy for all-round ex- cellence. Front left, Christopher Vanuden- primary Science Fair winner; Paul Kett- Jr. Science Fair winner and also winner of the Women's Institute Trophy for excellence in English. & Epsom Public School awarded its "Hardest Workers" trophies for year-round efforts in all aspects of school life. Special to seniors For the seniors in our community, a special demonstration of the computers in the library will be offered by Gail Chellow. She will dem- onstrate how they are being used with pre- schoolers. There will be an opportunity for any- one interested to try their hand at some of the programs. There is no charge. Artists on display Two Port Perry artists are represented at the Members °'g4 Juried Exhibition which opened with an awards ceremony last Friday evening at the Station Gallery in Whitby. Out of more than 100 entries by 54 participat- ing artists, the paintings of Leslie A. Parkes and Sheila Dantzer were among the 38 selected by Kim Ondaatje, artist, teacher, author, film maker and noted juror. Ms. Dantzer received special Honourable Mention for her work, entitled: Geese. Sponsored by Bell Canada, General Motors of Canada, Whitby Arts Incorporat- ed and the Ontario Arts Council, the exhibition continues through to September 2nd.
