In the money Jeannette Ross of the Scugog Crisis Centre had something to grin about last Thursday afternoon when Dave Dowson, president of the Ridge Runner's Truck Club, presented the centre with a che- que for $130. The club raised the money during a recent car wash. PHILP PONTIAC BUICK LIMITED 10 VANEDWARD DRIVE, PORT PERRY - 985.8474 Beautiful iris show RE engl © bY horticulturalists a WL in Burns Church hall Ashburn News by Mrs. Rose Heron There was a beautiful Iris show held in Burns Church Hall on Monday evening of last week, under the auspices of the Brooklin Horticul- ture Society. There were 99 entries. The best specimen of Iris was entered by Florence Ashton who also got 15 firsts for her many beautiful Iris. The best decorative entry was won by Valerie Hundert. Lyn Lawrence of the Royal Botanical Gardens of Hamilton was the special guest and she showed slides on wild flowers. One does not realize there are so many beautiful wild flowers in the woods until we see them on slides which some one has taken with a lot of patience and plea- sure. The next meeting will be the Rose Show on June 27th and there will also be a 'Floral De- signers Showcase" which will be very interesting. Nellie Hopkins, Flor- ence Ashton, Ruby Bry- ant, Bernice Gardner and Rose Heron attend- ed the W.M.S. summer rally of Lindsay Presby- terial at Leaskdale last Wednesday. The guest speaker was Rev. Barry Mack, Missionary on furlough from Guiana. Messrs. Fred Daw and Theo Knight attend- ed the Kingston-Peter- borough Presbytery meeting in Havelock on Tuesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Daw: were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Muckleston at their home in Barrie last Wednesday. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bath (nee, Sandra White) who were marr- ied in Burns Church last Saturday afternoon. We wish them much happ- iness in their married life. Also congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Sam Post of Whitby, parent of Betty Emm. A recep- tion will be held for them at Gerry and Betty's home next Sat- urday to honour them on their 50th wedding ann- iversary. It was a pleasure to have Dr. Clifford and Mrs. McKay of Fenelon Falls with us at Burns Church on Sunday morning. His message was titled 'Our Little and God's Much" based on the scripture, St. John, Chapter 6, which was read by Bill Gard- ner. Two lovely duets were sung by Elaine and Ken Heron of Brace- bridge; 'I've Got Peace like a River' and "My Lord, My God'. Dr. McKay will be with us again next Sunday. Dare to be wise; begin! He who post- pones the hour of living rightly is like the rustic who waits for the river to run out before he crosses. 66 Brock St. W., Uxbridge 852-5291 CICK MIC MIC HAPAR DENTURE THERAPY CLINIC 214 Dundas St. E., Whitby 668 7797 Open Weekdays including SUNDAY! -- By Appointment Only -- 194 King St. W., Oshawa 579-8752 MICHIE MIC HK MIC DDD DDDLLDDLLLDDDDDDDE DLE.
