Reverend Brian Rob- inson will be inducted this Friday, July 13, ending more than a decade of temporary ministers at the church. He's just moved into the big old house right next to the church with his wife Carol and 17 month old son Martin. The 35 year old min- ister comes to the Island from a small town in Alberta named Crows- nestpass where he spent his first two years as the official minister of a United Church. He's originally from Toronto, however, and a little more than curious when he first heard about his job out west. "I didn't even know where it was', he re calls. "Like many Canadians we thought it was way up north". Turns out the town was only about 25 milés from the American border, tucked not too far away from the British Columbia line. Rev. Robinson read about tite Scugog Island opening in the United Church Observer magazine, sent in an application and landed the job in March. Already he's discover- ing the friendly atmos- phere and the nice people on the Island, and he's only been there for a short time. "They have a lot of community spirit here," he acknowledges. "I think I it". m going to like 66 Brock St. W., THAPAR DENTURE THERAPY CLINIC 194 King St. W., Scugog Island United Church welcomes a full-time minister At last! EN co mr a Ol cps sO wl att.
