The attendance was down from last year due to the cool weather. The older folk enjoyed catching up on the fami- ly news and the young fry had fun playing together- rides, games and so forth. Weekend guests at Bill and Mildred Fortune's home at Blackstock over the weekend were: Lyn- da, Terry, Robert and Scott McElwain from Leamington arriving Friday evening- then on Saturday- Patricia, Suzanne and Lori Welk, Eganville came. A great get-together for the family! Daughter-in-law, Carolyn Emersons (Ian's wife) of St. Johns, Newfoundland, spent the July 1st weekend with Edgar and Anne Emer- son at their home at Nestleton. This past week- Edgar and Anne drove to Chicago to bring son Doug Emerson home- who has just graduated from the American Academy of Arts. An arduous trip with luggage, etc. Our "warmest congratula- tions" to Doug! Norm and Bernice Mairs, Nestleton, attend- ed the lovely wedding of her niece, Melanie Kent of Sundridge, to Gary Hotchkiss of North Bay. The reception was held at June's restaurant in Magnetewan. On Sunday afternoon the Cawkers enjoyed the Bicentennial straw- berry social and garden party held at Sharview Farm, Prince Albert. An excellent attendance was on hand for this old-fashioned nostalgic setting- with music from the past- a fine con- tinuous entertainment from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. with M.C. Terry Hodgins announcing the various items. Everyone enjoyed themselves immensely! Dale Davis extended a warm welcome to all and brought a fine message to the congregation bas- ed on passages of Scrip- ture from Isaiah and Luke. Familiar hymns were sung. A very mean- ingful service. At Caesarea Com- munity Church, a splen- did attendance with Rev. W.H. Crawford, D.D. taking his text from John- Chapter 9; theme- "The Blind Sea.' Music was supplied by guitar accompaniment and a solo was enjoyed. A special speaker for next Sunday -- so try and attend. Tractor pull MC was in top form Blackstock Area News by Joyce Kelly The Tractor Pull turn- ed out very successful after two rainy after-- noons on Friday and Saturday which gave the planners consider- able cause for concern. There were fine crowds both evenings with excellent competition in the many varied classe- es. As ususal M.C. Harvey Graham was in fine form. In all there were 154 pupils. Friday was moving day for three local families. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Thompson moved into their new home on Highway 57 formerly owned by the Clark family, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Morton, Michelle and Bradley moved into the Thompson house and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Shortridge, of Port Perry moved into the Morton House.
