a A Communities twine for Dancing in the moonlight v= Epsom Area News By Jean Jeffery Friday evening was perfect for dancing in the moonlight at Epsom. The uninvited guests (mosquitos) swarmed in and kept everyone on the move. Our sincere apprecia- tion to the Prentice band and friends for keeping our toes tapping to their lively music. We appreciated the History of Epsom and Utica which was on the blackboards for all to read by Helda Bailey and Dini Page had a beautiful display of weaving. The W.I. had also a display of antique memoribelia from past years. Thanks girls. The S.A.C. committee and Sunday School were life savers and a hot day when they kept food and drink available. Thanks to this committee also for the best parade we've seen in years. Now we have an Epsom Pin-up girl in a bubble bath. Thanks to the organ- izers of the ball game. The score was 13 to 12 in favour of the Kerry team. .The winners of the sports events in total points were 1st Dan Rankin; 2nd a three way tie, Duke Capella, Doug McSween and Dennis LY [78 [200] d White. Third was a tie between Jason Bertrand and John Rankin. And thanks to our great custodian, Doris Armstrong, whose help- ing hand was always - ready- willing - and able. We 'all enjoyed the scrumptious meal, wonderful beef and oodles of pies. Then we had a beautiful pro- gramme. I think Jason Van Veghel really stole the show. Our sincere appreciation to these committees for a job well done. A big hand also for Randy Reviston who played the guitar and sang while we enjoyed supper. $2 . PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, July 17, 1984 -- 15 birthday Arnold trained skinny chicken Utica & Area News by Vera Brown Church service for the Goodwood, Epsom- Utica Charge will be held at Goodwood United Church this Sun- day at 9:30 a.m. Please note that all summer services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sports Day winners on Saturday at Epsom were 1st Dan Rankin, there was a 3-way tie for 2nd, Duke Capello, Doug MacSween and Dennis White and a tie for 3rd between Jason Bertrand and John Rankin. These winners were determin- ed by total points. The ball game is rumored to have been won by Arnold Kerry's team, but I also heard that Arnold spent all last week training that skinny chicken to run out onto the field to distract the team of Bruce Houghland. Given a little more time I'm sure Bruce could have won the game as they were coming on pretty strong near the end. Better luck next time. Winners at Friday's euchre in the Hall were Ladies 1st Fran Gibson, 2nd Betty Boose and low score was Margt. Gall. Men's 1st Martin Gall, 2nd Joe McCaslin and low was Hardy Noble. Freeze-out winners were Martin Gall and Hardy Noble, second were Jean Beach and Ken Clark. There will be another euchre this Fri- day at 8 p.m. Congratulations to Doug and Deanna Harper on the arrival of a son Dylan Allan, born July 11th at Port Perry Hospital. A wee brother for Miss Dana Harper. We were pleased to hear that Mrs. Vera Taylor has improved enough to be moved to Parkview Nursing Home in Stouffville to recuperate until she is well enough to return to her home. Our best wishes go to her at this time. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Vernon of Prospect call- ed on Mrs. Crosier on Sunday. Mrs. Mildred Thomp- son has returned home from a very enjoyable Wardair Tour to Europe, visiting Eng- land, Holland, Ger: many, Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France. On Monday she visited her mother Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Pearl Breen of Mount Albert.
