They have played in nine tournaments this summer and a second place finish on two oc- casions is the worst they have done. The team is strong in all departmen- ts. To get to the A Port Perry Legion, led by the arm of John Annis and the bat of Dave Dickson cruised to a 20 victory in the - opening game of the zone semi-final in 0.AS.A. play at Claremont. Dave Dickson led off the 2nd inning with a homerun to deep left field. This held up until the 6th inning when Rick Legion draw first blood Gators reach A final in local tournament division final in this 24 team tournament, the Gators had victories over Caldwell, Mariposa and Royal Trust of Oshawa. Game two goes in Port Perry Wednesday night, August 15 at 8:30 p.m. Rain doesn't stop Haugens in Pontypool Haugens opened their first round in O.A.S.A. on Sunday, August 12 against Pontypool's Jade Gardens. Playing 9 innings in a steady driz- zle of rain was not easy for either team, but Haugens came out on top with a 40 win. Haugens started early, scoring 2 runs in the top half of the first inning. Pontypool pitcher got off to a slow start walking the first 2 bat- ters and two sacrifice flies scored Prince Albert 2 runs in the top half. Ken Irvine went the distance on the mound for Haugens giving up only 3 hits and striking out 12 batters. Pontypool batters never threatened once during the game. There was no more scoring until the top of the seventh inning when Prince Albert got 2 more insurance runs to put the game away. Excellent effort by everyone on the Prince Albert squad made the win look so easy. Second game of this series wil be played Tuesday, August 14 at 8:30 in Port Perry and if necessary, Thursday, August 16 in Pontypool at 8:30. at 8:30. The winner of this series meets Hastings the Int. D. Champions for the past 2 years. Two runs all they needed The Port Perry Legion Old Timers won the A Division of a slow- pitch tournament held in Oakwood on Sunday. Legion captured the final with a 7-5 victory over Oshawa Auto Trim. It was a tournament for two run victories for the Legion squad as that was the margin of vic- tory in the three games the team won to reach the finals.
