Mr. and Mrs. Don Crosier are home from a 2 week trip to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island and just in time to celebrate a wedding' anniversary. Dorothy Hargrove from Willowdale spent the weekend with her mom - Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Strong. And keeping with the Strongs - they put on their Sunday best last Saturday, August 4 and attended the wedding of their grandson, David Geer to Beverly Miller. Helen Jewell along with a couple of friends Mary Irwin and Helen Hall from Toronto travelled up to Halls Lake last weekend. Glad to report that Sandy Moore is home from hospital - but not travelling too far from home. Mary Lynn Murphy and her boys, Chad and Adam, enjoyed a week at Port McNicoll visiting Mary Lynn's parents. Milk quota increased, national review is ordered The within-quota levy, deducted from milk pro- duced in Ontario for the dairy product market, increased from $5.14 to $5.50 per hectolitre, ef- fective August 1, 1984. In addition, market-sharing quota (MSQ) levels will* remain unchanged for August 1st in Ontario. In making the an- nouncement, The On- tario Milk Marketing Board stressed that the new levy may not be the final rate used to meet Ontario's commitment to the national program for 1984/85. The Board will review the levy quota situation, and consider if additional action is necessary, once 1983/84 year-end production and consumption figures are known in early September. The Board made the announcement following a recent release from the Canadian Dairy Com- mission which indicated each province would establish individual within-quota levy rates this year. As a result of the CDC release, the over-quota levy rate in Ontario has increased to $34.38 from $31.79 per hectolitre, ef- fective August 1st, 1964. Levy increases are re- quired because of the continuing world market surplus and low export prices for our dairy pro- ducts, coupled with a small surplus inventory of butter in Canada. A complete national review of quota levels and levy funds will take place in late January 1985. Bill and Olive Bolton have just returned from Calgary, Alberta where they saw their new grandson and visited with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Brown and family.
