They won first and Grand Champion on both occasions. Con- gratulations. Sincere sympathy is extended to Gladys and George Van De Walker and family on the sudden passing of her father, Mr. Frank Perrault at their home on Thursday morning. Mr. Corless Ashen- hurst of Uxbridge had dinner Sunday with his sister, Racheal and Armour McMillan. Miss June Oldnall of Alcester, England, is spending a month with her brother, Jeff and Margaret Oldnall and family. While here they are showing her around to many points of interest in Ontario, including Parkwood Estate at Oshawa, the 30,000 Island Boat Cruise at Midland and Cullen Gardens. -Mr. and Mrs. William Stone attended the fort- ieth wedding anniver- sary celebration for Mr. and Mrs. H. Puckrin on Sunday and also for Mr. and Mrs.Shier on Sat- urday. Pitching the shoes A large number of horseshoe pitchers were in attendance at the Doug Dart Annual Horseshoe Tournament held on Saturday, Aug- ust 18 at Nestleton. There were 36 men pitchers and 24 women pitchers competing. Ladies winners were: Ist - Daisy Hurst, Whitby: 2nd - Marie Pipher, Whitby; 3rd - Tanya Vander Wouden, Bowmanville. Men's Single winners were: 1st - Doug Farth- ing, Peterborough; 2nd - Otty Mann, Whitby; 3rd - Bud Hurst, Whitby.
