Already timetables have been drafted and the custodians have been busy giving the school its annual over- haul. It is hoped that the 1984-85 school year will be even better that last year. Several staff have been added to enrich the programme further. Enrolment is projected to be approximately 980 students, and to help meet their needs there will be 46.5 full time equivalent staff. There are several internal staff changes and also there will be eight new staff members. M. Patrice Bouillon will be teaching Grade 4 French Immersion join- ing R.H. Cornish from Chapleau. Miss Lynn Ellis wil] be teaching Grade 1, Lynn is joining the Durham system from Montreal. Miss Ginette Fournier joins the Cornish staff to teach Grade 1-2 from Cornwall, Ontario. Mr. John Lewis joins the R.H. Cornish staff from the Duke of Edinburgh Public Oshawa. John will be teaching the Junior Gift- ed Programme. Mrs. Judy Luke joins the R.H. Cornish staff, but Obituary School in she is not a stranger and Judy is a Port Perry resident. Judy will teach the Intermediate Modified class. Mr. Dan Volman joins the R.H. Cornish staff from Dr. S.J. Phillips P.S. in Oshawa. Dan is a resi- dent of Scugog and will be teaching Intermed- iate Science. Mr. Aboud Ziade joins the R.H. Cornish staff after teaching at Joseph Gould Sr. P.S. Aboud will be teaching Inter- mediate French. During this week, August 27th to 31st, the school will have office hours for the registra- tion of students, from Bessie Ferris Funeral services for Bessie Ferris were held in the McDermott-Pana- baker Chapel of the Harold Wagg Funeral Home, Friday, August 17, 1984. Assisting as Pall Bearers were her grandchildren, Cathryn Hall, Jayne Hall, Jennifer Hall, Bill Hall, Ted Hall and Robert Hall. A native of Port Perry Bessie M. Ferris, born Bessie Spence, second daughter of Robert and Sarah Spence. In 1910 she moved with her family to Toronto. In 1912 she married William E. Hall also of Port Perry. They resid- ed in Toronto and began raising their family of 5 children until the sudden passing of Will- iam in 1943. Bessie and her two youngest children came to Port Perry in 1944 and - took up residence in the Hall home on Union Avenue. During the following years, re- unions and celebrations became traditional, memorable occasions. Over the years the family grew to include 8 grandchildren and 7 great - grandchildren, for whom her talents in knitting, crocheting, quilting and sewing will be greatly treasured. Bessie was an active member of St. John's W.M.S. and the Ladies Aid Society of St. John's Presbyterian Church, where her quiet, gentle manner and willing hands were greatly appreciated. In 1964 she married George Ferris and spent happy years travelling, making new friendships abroad and in Florida. Since his death in 1973, Bessie remained in Port Perry under the loving care of her family until her passing August 15, 1984 at the Port Perry Community Hospital. She is survived by 2 sisters, Thelma and Nellie Spence, and one brother, Harry, all of Toronto; her five children, Melba, Norma (Mrs. E. Hurst), Harvey, Howard and Cathryn, 8 grand- children and 7 great- grandchildren.
