ee AN ni JN a br RIN imi Despite a couple of days of unsettled weather, Agricultural Society President, Stewart Diceman, said he was "very pleased" with the success of the 1984 Port Perry Fair » «rv Fair Board president Stewart Diceman said the 1984 version was successful, despite the inclement weather. held over the Labour Day Weekend. The Fair has not been blessed with ideal weather conditions over the past few years and the 1984 version was no exception as rain put a damper on events on Sunday. The skies were threat- ening for most of Labour Day Monday, but the rains held off and good crowds turned out for the final day of the Fair. Mr. Diceman said he expects the Fair will "be in the black' once all the figures have been added up and the bills paid. He was especially pleased with the crowds at the beef supper which numbered about 700, and said the first ever demolition derby Sun- day evening also attracted large crowds. He expects the popular derby will be a perman- ent attraction at the Fair in years to come. Mr. Diceman is in his first year of a two year term as chairman of the Agricultural Society, the organization which has been staging the Fair at the present location for the past 98 years. One significant change this year was moving the midway to the infield and Mr. Diceman said organ- izers were pleased with this move.
