ea Greenbank still - in need of water Efforts to find a source of water for homes in Greenbank have so far proved unsuccessful. Many homes in the community have con- taminated wells and the provincial Ministry of the Environment has drilled four test holes to date, all without success. Additional funds have been -allo- cated by the Ministry for more drilling this fall. If a well is found with sufficient water, it is likely the community would be hooked up to a communal water system, rather than homes having individ- ual wells. The well water pro- blems are being exper- ienced by home owners in the original comm- unity of Greenbank. Homes in the new sub- divisions in Greenbank have their own internal water system and are not affected. Salt used on the roads in winter is believed to be the major source of the well contamination in the community, espec- ially for those homes near the highway with shallow wells.
