An lateresting Vacation Mildred and Bill Fer- tune eof Road 57, Blackstock, have just returned from almost a month long vacation. While holidaying they stayed at a Motel in Harl- ingen, Texas, for a week, which is a central part of the Rio Grande. From there, they toured to the various places of interest taking in Corpus Christi and North Padre Island and Port Isabel on South Padre Island. On the return trip home, they stopped in San Antonio for a few days and went on the River Walk and visited the Alamo - which is of historical significance - the site of the Independence of Texas in 1836. Spending a little time in St. Louis they drove through Bulna Vista Animal Park and saw the fantastic Caverns. Before returning to home base, the Fortunes enjoyed a visit with Mildred's mother Lucy and George Donneral and daugher Lynda and family in Leamington, finding them all well. Euchre Results A very good turnout last Wednesday evening and the winners were: First prize winner- Kay Brown with a good score of 87. Bob Urquhart came in a close second with 86. Doug Thomas was low with 48. Al Cor- mack held 14 lone hands' for the month of August. For those not familiar with Tweedsmuir Histories- the following should clarify any questions that may arise. In 1936, Lady Tweedsmuir, wife of Lord Tweedsmuir who was Governor-General of Canada- 1935-1940, stressed the need for preserving the history of our Canadian people, the places, customs, and ac- tivities of our developing land.
