He announces this with a grin on his face, sitting underneath a poster of a manic desk- ridden Tasmanian devil. '""They'll be playing Eastdale", he says. "That should be interesting". Eastdale, you see, is the school Mr. Mussel- man just came from, a massive maze in Oshawa housing 1,500 kids. As vice-principal with a keen interest in sports, he's cheered on many a basketball game for Eastdale. And now he'll be going to yet another Eastdale game - but this time he'll be cheering for Cartwright. His transfer came about when former CHS Principal Gordon Pais- ley announced his re- tirement after 34 years in one of Canada's smallest high schools. Mr. Musselman heard about the vacant position and immediate- ly applied, thinking about how much closer he'd be to his home in Seagrave. What he didn't realize was how different CHS would turn out to be. At Eastdale he was used to dealing with students en masse. Every day he worked with a sea of faces, never getting to know all the students in the school. But by the time he'd been travelling the halls of Cartwright for a week, he had pretty well figured out who was who. "I almost know all the students already. When you work in a big school you never get to know all the students," he says. Still, "Kids are kids. You have a few rabble rousers here, just like at Eastdale, but only a few. You can put your fingers .on them right away because they stand out at a small school'. He enjoys the tiny school and the 110 students within its walls, likening it a university tutorial. And already he's impressed with the school spirit that is so much a part of Cart- wright, saying "When 1 looked at their program of events, I realized they do everything, plus other things, that the bigger schools do. "I've only been here a little while and I'm proud of Cartwright already'.
