Ken Catherwood cap- tured first prize with his yummy cherry cheese cake and Doug Wilson was second with a scrumptious Blueberry pie. Lorne Slute got consolation with Ban- ana Loaf. Other entries were equally good. Just imagine Date Muffins with a jug of jelly and a plate of butter; Brownie square with chocolate icing and half walnut pieces; a Chocolate chip square and chocolate chip cookies. The enter- ies in the contest were our lunch. The judges had a tasty but difficult job. Now don't you wish you had attended. attended. Happy Birthday to Tom Armstrong and Richard Ashton who celebrated on Sunday. We all went on a tour of Europe via slides shown by Lorne and Eileen Slute of their summer vacation tour- ing France, Italy and Germany with the Passion Play as a high- light. The Social Club will hold its October get-to- gether as'a Halloween costume party. This will be a fun evening of costume judging and spooky prizes with a calorie loaded lunch. Get your best garb on! Oct. 13 - Volleyball annual Goodwood vs. Epsom Utica at Joseph Gould School. Oct. 18 - Board meeting. Sept. 27 - Session and Stewards meet at Epsom Church 8 p.m. Sept. 30 - At Utica Baptismal Services Church 11:15 a.m. following the Bible Study at 10:00 a.m. I believe there is a beef supper and a bazaar and bake sale also in the near future. The Youth Group met at the Baster home Sat. evening to plan their fall activities and watched a movie. Thanks to Jill for a lovely evening at the Postma home last Thursday evening when she hosted a "Tops and Trends' Party. It was a very enjoyable evening. Mr. and Mrs. David Simmonds were supper guests with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wilson last Friday evening. Last Tuesday after- noon, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Zylatra of Official - Mrs. Brooklin visited former neighbours Earl and Marie Wilson. A number attended the 4H day at Lindsay Fair last Wed. On Friday evening the immediate family of W.0. Simpson went out for dinner together, after dinner Marie and Earl Wilson, Grace and Floyd Wilson, Jack and Doro- thy Simpson, Lois and Harry Elford, Ern and Lula Simpson returned to the home of Lois and Harry Elford for an evening's visit. A number from the community attended the opening ceremonies on Sat. afternoon for the new Baptist Leadership, Education Centre near Whitby. The land was donated by the Cullans and is close to Cullen Gardens. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Watson of Duncan B.C. are visiting Archie and Jennie Watson for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Watson flew east to attend the funeral of her brother. We are sorry to learn that Mrs. Ruth Boad- way had been quite ill in Uxbridge Hospital. We wish her a speedv rec- overy. Steve Ashenhurst visited at the Ross Evans home on Sunday. Margurite Bowles is improving with ther- apy in Oshawa Hospital. Mrs. Powell wishes to be remembered to all her friends. Mrs. Wat- son and Mrs. Jeffery called at Port Perry Hospital one day last week to see Mrs. Powell. Evelyn Hansen spent an enjoyable weekend in Toronto visiting in-laws while there she visited Harbour Front Allen Gardens. On Fri. evening Evelyn and Carl helped Lynda Fiord celebrate her birthday at a party at her home. On Fri. evening Kim Volunteers needed Victorian Order of Nurses, Durham Region Branch, requires the services of special volunteers. Men and women volunteers are needed in the Durham Region to visit our patients in their own homes - to be part of the special support patients require to maintain recovery and dignity. Stearman who celebrated his 92nd birthday at the home of Elva and Walter Kerry with a family dinner on Sunday. On Sat.
