| : Sono toinei HS i 2 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Sept. 25, 1984 Once again all roads will lead to Cartwright - as on October 12th and 13th the citizens of that township will célebrate two hundred years of settlement in Ontario 4nd one hundred and fifty in Cartwright it- self. One of the highlights of the weekend will be a play entitled 'Yarns to Spin", a story about people and events in old Cartwright in the year 1878. The characters, people who really lived in the township then, are being portrayed by local actors. This play is the brainchild of Bethany Schryburt who, after much research, wrote it and is now directing it. It will be presented on the Friday evening at 8 p.m. and again on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Recreation Centre in Blackstock. Other displays will include antique machinery, old township and school information, quilts and antiques. Mr. Ross Stevenson, M.P.P., will present an Ontario plaque and plant a memorial tree. Games, contests, competitions have been planned just for fun! At 5 p.m. the local Invited to Royal opening Mr. E.H. Barnhardt, of Lilla Street, Port Perry, has been invited to attend the opening of Fairfield White House in Ambherstview, Ontario this Thursday. Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh will offici- ally open Fairfield White House on Thurs- day, September 27 at 7:00 P.M., Fairfield Historical Ambherstview, Ontario. Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Phillip will also open the Loyalists Parkway and dedicate the Memorial Arch. Loyalist Parkway was formerly known as Hwy. 33. This Parkway will commemorate with dis- tinction the founding of Ontario in 1784 by the Loyalists. Park, Historical play, displays, bar-b-q part of Cartwright celebrations Lions will serve a pork barbecue followed at 8 p.m. by a country dance featuring the Ding-a- Lings.
