Hurst 1.LG.A.-2 Emmersons - 2 Well those who stick out their necks past and present, and think of themselves as draft- niks, sure missed on a couple of talented play- ers on 1.G.A. Namely Jerry "'Eamy" and Eric Douman, who each scored a goal for 1.G.A. in a 2-2 tie with Emmer- sons. Jerry sent 1.G.A. ahead 1-0 with Terry Bache assisting. Then Darey Head tied it up for Emmerson with help from Jeff Beddome. Early in the second period, Vince Tripp add- ed a second goal for the rewrites with John Nott- ingham assisting to give Emmerson a 2-1 lead. This all came about late in the third period when Eric Douma tied it, at Port whips Cobourg On Friday Oct. 19th the Port Perry Pee Wee 1 met in Cobourg for their first time of the season and defeated them 6-2. The game was filled with penalties and thus the reason for the game taking two hours. A lot of penalties means a lot of skating room and Clair Cornish took advantage of that with the first goal of the game, Mike Feasby and Danny Maw assisted. Two minutes later Clair Cornish got an unassist- ed, short-handed goal from a whistling slap- shot from thirty feet out. In the second period Cobourg scored on a power play. Then Port settled down and answered with four goals: more Clair AUTOMOTIVE MACHINE SHOP Head Rebuilding - Engines Rebuilt - Rotor & Drum Turning - Flywheel Resurfacing (flat & recessed) - Engine Boring and Head Resurfacing - MERV PUGH 179 Casimir St. - Port Perry 2-2. Chris Watson add- ing the assist, final 1.G.A. 2, Emmersons 2. Each team gave little ground to the other, and both clubs worked for the tie. Cochrane -5 Consumers - 3 When the puck is dropped to start a game, the old saying is, don't stop skating till its all over. This is what happened to Consumers Gas, they broke from the gate very quickly on Darryl Bradt's goal from "Solly" Solomon. Then the horsemen came right back to notch it at 1-1 on Steve Diceman"s goal. Its just seemed that everything the Cochrane Trotters did wrong, was capital- ized on by the Gas Works boys. Paul Turner scored from Bradt to give them a 2-1 lead over the Horsemen. Cornish 1 goal; Danny Maw 1 goal, 1 assist; Danny Sluggett 1 goal; Jarett Harman 1 goal; Brian Appleby 1 goal; Mark Andrews 1 assist; Jan Heyes 1 assist; and Sean Bradbury 1 assist. 9-3 Victory The next day, on home ice, Port Perry defeated Cobourg 9-3 and this time only four penalties were taken! Jarett Harman opened the scoring only 53 seconds into the first period with a wrist shot to the bottom corner. Later in the first period Paul Teno put one between the pipes with Clair Cornish assisting. After a flood Cobourg came out flying with a quick goal but only two 985-934 2525 wn wn wd ww Wn Po Then in the second period Greg Free on a pass from Bradt, scored to give Consumers Gas a 3-1 lead after two periods of play. The Trotters with Ron Halligan on some pretty passing between Ron Davis and Jon Rodway, scored and this took sails away from the Gas Works. The Horsemen then got to work in the third period, with a lot of hustle and they took command, when Jon Rodway scored with help from Taylor Philip and Derek Slack. Slackie came right back and scored. Then Rodway and Halligan combination took over, and put the game out of reach for the Gas Works, Cochranes winn- ing 5-3. This was a well-played game of hockey. minutes later, Clair Cornish deaked out the goalie on a lead pass from Chris Legere and then still on the same shift Cornish did it again, only this time from Brian Appleby. Cobourg got one more then Port took it away with five goals: Clair Cornish 1 goal, 1 assist for his hat trick; Danny Sluggett 1 goal; Jan Heyes 1 goal; Danny Maw 1 goal; Jarett Harman 1 goal.
