Douglas Wilson and Beth visited his Grand- (Turn to page 17) The Ghost Caper (From page 8) for real. So did Marilyn Wood, Emile Kroonen- berg, Kathy Hoar and a few others who huddled with the group. I thought, I'm too young to die. And abruptly, the noise stopped. "Emile,"" someone said, '"'you don't know anything about this by any chance, do you?" Emile shook his head. I examined his face for any telltale smirks. There weren't any. I wracked my meagre brain for clues. If Emile didn't set us up, who did? I mean, Emile organized the whole shin-dig. Who, other than him, would be responsible? And why would anyone want to do this to us? The questions were baffling. But no less baffling is the mystery of the Old Folks. Grandma and Grand- pa (not their real names 9 cause nobody knows what their real names are) first appeared at Emiel's Place during last year's Great Scugog Spook Caper. While everyone was pigging out on a glorious dinner of Black Cat Ribs, Grandma and Grandpa (who both look like the Before in Qil of Olay Before and After ads) appeared out of nowhere, wandered through the dining room nodding to each guest, and about five minutes later, disappeared. They never said 'a word to anyone, and no one could figure out who they were. This year they pulled the same stunt, except we were eating Frank- enstein beef with pudd- ing. I was tempted to pull off their masks, but didn't, no doubt afraid they weren't masks at all but grotesque aliens from a planet of corpses. We're talking grotty to the max here. Emile and I tried following Grandpa and Grandma but were thwarted when the old folks literally dis- appeared into the night without a trace. I did, however, man- age to snap a picture of the wrinkled pair --- actually, two pictures because they wouldn't cooperate. So if you happen to know who they are, if in fact, they really exist, then give me a call and let me know. I can't offer a reward 'cause I'm real poor but I will be thoroughly indebted. And so will all the other ghouls who razzed the town in the 1984 Great Scugog Spook Caper. Until next year, then.. barkey GRAIN & FEED 705-953-9660 | Mile East of Oskwood on No 7 Mwy 172 Mile North af Taylor's Corner Road
