gira i Ett bt a a " a | Broomball teams into semi finals This past weekend saw the local broomball teams involved in a number of games as regular play took place on Sunday and 2 tour- naments in Lefroy and Colborne. In Colborne on Sat- urday, Utica, Emmer- sons and the Oddfellows participated with Odd- fellows and Emmersons advancing to the semi- finals ' before bowing out. In the first period it all started off with a nice pass from Brad Menzies to Jamie Menzies who put it away for a 1-0 game for Port. Then 3 minutes later Oshawa had a break- away but Stacy Ballin- gall made an excellent save but unfortunately the rebound was then shot in. Oshawa then put 3 more goals away later in the game to make it 4-1. From then on the two teams held each other off to keep the score the same until the end of the game. On November 15th the Bantams had another iv) ? rd tough game against Pickering Village. Pickering Village started the game off with the first two goals of the game. Then Port got a goal scored by Jeff Oke and assisted by Brad Menzies and Brad Traves. Again Port got a second goal scored by Jeff Oke and assisted by Warren Geer to make it 2-2. Then 7:52 into the third period Pickering scored. From then on it was unfortunately Pick- ering's game. The game ended at 5-2 for Picker- ing. Beacocks started off with 3, Warriors 0, Beacocks 2, Goreski's 1 before losing 2-0 to the provincial champion Rangers. Back home in the league on Sunday, Utica Goreski's, and Beacocks took out their - frustrations on the other three with resounding effects. In the first game Utica dumped Brian's 5-1. Utica jumped in first with Murray Down and Scott Dezan click- ing, before Brian's tied it on a goal by Joe Defillipis from Lawrence Peeters. Renel Hebert then assisted Chester Down before the first period ended for a 2-1 lead. Hebert got his second assist as he aided Kevin Ibbittson, before he got one of his own unassist- ed. Mike Mitchell round- ed out the scoring set up by Murray Down. Goreski's pounded Oddfellows by a tally of 6-0 in the second en- counter of the day. Bart Wager led the attack with a hat trick and an assist to boot. Mark Lee also had a multiple point game as he picked up 2 goals. Dave Dickson notched the other Gor- eski goal. Along with Wagar"s assist, Bill St. John had 2, with singles going to Alex Shelemba, and Tim Ashbridge. The final game saw the highest score as Beacock blanked Emmerson's 7-0. The Beacocks attack was led by Tom Wotten who notched 2 goals and 2 assists. Steve Hawes was right behind him with 2 goals and a single assist. The remaining goals went to Laval Poulin, Wayne McGuig- an, and Ron Wagg with Ron Redman and Ron Short and Poulin adding single assists for the totals.
