LG.A. -4 Cochrane Trotters - 3 "Here was another game that had the parents on the edge of their seats - barnburner for sure. With IGA winning over Cochrane this brings the league to four points separating first and last place teams. With three seconds left in the first period, the Horsemen took an early lead, when Ron Halligan scored a goal on a quick pass from Steve Diceman. In the second period, Marvin Hughes scored on goal passing between him, Collins and White. This same combo did it again, Hughes scoring from White and Collins. But in between their two goals Chris Carr scored from J. Douma. This was a wide open affair, as both teams miss "ed some good opportun- ities. What happened to the Horsemen in the third period? : They just plain went to sleep and just couldn't regroup to hold on to the 3-1 lead built in the second period, as the bundle carriers put on the pressure and kept the Horsemen off balance. J. Sturman scored what proved to be the turning point in IGA's attack with J. Douma assisting. Then Chris Watson put one in to tie the game at 3-3 and still the Trotters couldn't: get untracked as Chris Carr scored with a little better than 1:20 remaining with Bache and Orr adding the assist. Then IGA with a penalty and the Horsemen's goalie out, they just about scored, but the game ended. This was a well-played game for two periods before the Trotters died out there. Woes continue for the Port MoJacks The Port Perry Mo- Jacks continue to have all kinds of problems as the Central Junior C Hockey League moves into its second month. On Saturday night at the Scugog Arena, Mo- Jacks came out on the short end of a 13-2 score against the powerful Bowmanville Eagles. The team was never really in the game as the Eagles built a whopping lead before Port Perry finally managed to get on the scoreboard in the third period. Jeff Johnstone and defenseman Mike Ryan scored the goals for the MoJacks, but the game was long out of reach. As if the MoJacks aren't having enough problems, Rob Malcolm, one of the more steadier perform- ers along the blue line this year, suffered an injury in Saturday's game and he may be out for some time. He joins captain Vaughan McKee and forward Bob Horton who are both on the shelf with injuries. The MoJacks have not won a hockey game since October 21, man- aging just one tie in the last six games. Their record in the first ten games is two wins, one tie and seven defeats. Several of the losses early in the season were close, by one or two goals, but the team recently was pounded 7-1 by Lindsay and then ran into the Eagles for a 13-2 thumping Saturday evening. The injuries are hurt- ing a team that can't afford to have experien- ced players out of the line-up, and against the talented Eagles, there wasn't a lot of spark from the MoJacks. Port Perry journeyed toCobourg Monday night for the third meet- ing with the Cougars so far this season, and this coming Sunday night at the Scugog Arena will host Little Britain Mer- chants. This will be the first meeting for these two clubs this season, and face off will be 7:30.
