The even- "ing also included the An- nual Meeting, Canes Show and entertainment and was well attended by members as well as their families and friends. President Ken Brown welcomed over 100 peo- ple and dead the way to the dessert table where diets were abandoned. All the tables were festively decorated by Mary Housego, Joan Brak and Marilyn Love. This was followed by the presentation of awards: Highest points for the year-Dorothy Barter, prize given by Simpson- Sears; 2nd Highest - Audrey Young, prize given by Don Vallance Equipment and 3rd - Mary Housego, prize donated by Brooklin Con- crete. Highest points in vegetables was won by John Beecroft, a gift cer- tificate from Simpsons- Sears and this gentleman also won the Rose Bowl Trophy presented by our Society - for a new member with the highest points. The Membership Award, for the third con- secutive year went to Valerie Hundert, for which ste received a pla- que donated by Earle and Dorothy Sandford of Oshawa. The Junior Awards given by Jack and Lyla Allan, were presented by Valerie Hundert, Junior Co- ordinator, to the follow- ing: Highest Points overall, Jason Young. Jason was also presented with the Award of Merit given by the society for outstanding activity dur- ing the year, 2nd Highest Points - Jennifer Brak and 3rd - Janet Stachow. In the under 10 age group, prizes went to: 1st - David Leedle, 2nd Dan- ny Young, 3rd Wesley Odger and 4th, Martin Leedle. The President then presented the Socie- ty's Meritorious Award to Margaret Davis and it was the unanimous opi- nion that this, indeed, was well deserved. Judge for the Show was Ken Brown and the prize for the Best Decorative, donated by the Brooklin Village Pot- tery, went to Dorothy Barter. . Following the awards, the President introduced the Jubilee Choir of the Whitby Senior Citizens Activity Centre and they gave some lovely rendi- tions of Christmas Carols Entertainment was followed by the Annual Meeting and Election of Officers for 1985 and the new slate of Officers for the Society are as follows: Past President - Lyla Allan: President - Ken Brown; 1st Vice Pres. - Betty Van Buuren; 2nd Vice Pres. - Veronica Colangelo. Directors for 1985: Sharron Beecroft; Nancy Coates; Fred Daw: Marilyn Love; Aldine Wick; Audrey Young. Directors for 1985/86: Margaret Beath, Joan Brak; Doris Hoskins; Mary Housego; Shirley Morrow; Martin Zylstra. Auditors: Bill Burgess and Allan Downey.
