Sunderland tournament Lakers win C title On Saturday Dec- ember 8th Sunderland Old Boys hosted a tournament in Sunder- Chesterfield Suites Love Seats Sectionals & Mattresses - A Large Selection - land. The Scugog Lakers spponsored by Scugog Remax Realty of Port Perry won the "C" Division in the eight team tournament. In the first game the Lakers came up against a tough opponent from Oakwood and lost 2-1 in a very tight checking game. In game two the Lakers opponent was the Uxbridge Oilies and the Lakers skated to a decisive 10-1 victory, thus gaining a berth in the "C" division final. The Lakers were seeking to even the score for the previous loss and did so by defeating Beaverton in a hard fought game by a score of 4-1. Two individual awards were also pick- ed up by Lakers players in the tournament. Mike Driscoll won the M.V.P. Trophy in the "'C" Division final and Peter Namienko won the top goaltending award for allowing only 4 goals in the 3 games. Sportsland - 6 Smiths - 2 Sportsland's trio of Dave Bourgeois, John Foster and Ken Smart recorded 8 points between them, to down Smiths Contracting 6-2. Scoring Sportslands other tallys were Rick Olaisen (2), and Wayne Norton. Assists to Brian Burns, George Gladish and Ted Blanchard. Smiths goals by Rick Hope (2). Assists to Bruce Smith, Scott Davis, Dave Kay and Henry Forderer. Compton TV -3 J&D-2 This game was a back and forth battle with fine goaltending at both ends. Bill Hurst of Compton scored half- way through the first period, assisted by Doug Bronson and Bob Mc- Eachern. This goal held up, till halfway through the third period when Dan Carty of J&D equalled the score at 1, assists to Dave Jackson and John Robertson. Forty seconds later Compton went ahead 2-1 on a deflection by Ray . Zaparanuik assisted by Doug Bronson. With just over 2 minutes left, Dave Jackson tied the game for J&D, assisted by Joe Curran and Mike Adam. Bantamsin tie On Wednesday Dec- ember 5, Port hosted Bowmanville and came out with a tie. Port took a 2 goal lead late in the first period with Brad Menzies netting a goal and Brad Traves picking up the assist. Bowmanville scored the only goal in the second to tie it up. In the third, Mark Barkey was awarded our last two goals, the first Now qualifies Majors coming early and un- assisted and the second assisted by Brad Traves. Bowmanville's final two goals were scored late in the period. The next home game for Goreski Insulation is on Wednesday Dec- ember 12 at 8:00 when they host Lindsay.
