A eo PAS AE x Scott Warner captain of the Kitchener Kondors and Craig Men- zies, skipper of the Port Perry Eagles just prior to opening face-off for an exhibition game between the two midget-age clubs at the Scugog Arena Saturday evening. The Eagles scored quickly and then played solid defensive hockey to hold on for a 2-1 victory over the visiting team. The game was an entertaining affair and witnessed by a good crowd. Midget B's win 7-2 The Canadian Tire Midget 2's are back on track again after a well-played game against Ajax on Wed. Dec. 5 in Port Perry. - The visiting team began' the scoring but Port replied to tie the game late in the first period on a goal by Chris Parliament assist- ed by Blair Phillips. In the second period Port Perry held the edge with 2 more points on goals by Karl Dur- ham from Steve Sol- omon and Willie Edwards, and Chris Parliament, assisted by Blair Phillips antd~Chris Skura. The Canadian Tire team really put the ~ pressure on in the third period by adding 4 more 'points to the scoreboard allowing the Ajax team only 1 more goal in the game. Goals were scored by Jay Van Camp from Chris Parl- iament and Tim Maw; Steve Solomon assisted by Karl Durham; Willie Edwards from Karl Durham; and an un- assisted" goal --by--Tim Maw. Final score was 7-2 for Port Perry. Steve Langille played well in net for Port Perry. The team travels to Bowmanville Wed- nesday, December 12. Next home game is on Thursday December 13 at 9:30 p.m. VIDEO MACHINE RENTALS in an exhibition contest The Grant Menzies Eagles from Port Perry turned in their best performance on ice so far this season as they nipped a Double A Kitchener squad 2-1 in an exhibition match played Saturday night 'at the Scugog Arena. A good crowd was on hand to see a fast-paced well played hockey game that featured some fine defensive work by the Eagles and sharp goal-tending by John Moore and Bill Eades who split the chores between the pipes for the Eagles. The Eagles jumped into an early 1-0 lead as Dave Burnett clicked with a shot from in close with assists going to Craig Menzies and John Harman. Kitchener captain Scott Warner put the teams into a 1-1 knot in the second period with an assist to Brett Mc- Kenzie. Dave Culbert got what " proved to be the winner off a nice pass by Rob Baker. This exhibition match was arranged through the efforts of Doug Moore, a member of the Port Perry Minor Hockey executive. His brother-in-law Ted Lyons is manager of the Kitchener squad. Prior to the operiing face-off, the players exchanged gifts at centre ice with the Kitchener team taking home PPMHA caps and the Eagles receiving pins from the visitors. League Play In league play on Monday Dec. 3, the Eagles lost to Port Hope 6 to 5. On Sunday' night Dec. 9th they played Ux- bridge in league play and after playing so well the night before the Eagles came out flatter than a snake's belly in a wagon run and lost 4 to 1. Petites on the march On Sunday Dec. 9 Bruton's IDA Petites travelled to Fenelon Falls to play a league game. Fenelon has only been playing ringette for two years and their inexperience certainly showed as Port Perry defeated them 11 to 0. Fenelon even though not able to get on the scoreboard did have their opportunities to score. Some good saves by Tracy Pelow and a little help from lady luck prevented them from scoring.
