In many corners there were piles of nearly new, warm clothing for distress centres in Oshawa. It was really the child- ren's day for a White Gift Service when they portrayed the Birth of Jesus in Story, action and pantomine, all in appropriate costume. The climax was their offering of White Gifts and a monetary collect- ion from the adults for Mission Service. The 3rd candle of Advent lit by a girl represented Joy. Joy was further expressed by the music of the Orchestra, the singing by the regular adult choir and the special vocal music by a guest male choir. Of course, the capacity, mixed con-. gregation also express- ed their joy in lusty singing. All were invited to an old fashioned Carol sing at 7:30 p.m. We thank Rev. Port Perry High School Canned food drive is going great guns by Michele Lucyk This is no ordinary week at Port Perry High School. The great Christmas spirit has overcome the students of the school, in more ways than one. Take for instance the Canned Food Drive. It started last week and it goes until this Thurs- day. So far it is going really well!! A special thanks goes to everyone who has brought canned food in! There is also another fund raising event. It's the 'Pie in the Face" Contest. Proceeds from this event go to the Matthew Geer fund. And wait 'till you hear about it! In front of the office, at lunch, there are buckets with some of the teachers names on the buckets. All you do is drop some change into the teachers bucket of your choice for a pie in the face. Everytime you put 50 cents into a bucket your name goes into another bucket and you could be the lucky person who throws the pie, if your name is drawn! The contest closes this Thursday, and the pie will be thrown in Friday's assembly. The Senior Wind was very successful in their chip drive on Saturday.
