Finally, on a more mundane level, I am in a minor fret over those Maple Leafs (or Laffs, as they are being referred to in some circles). "More than I hate just to see a team lose and look terrible in the process, I am appalled when traditions are dragged through the mud. And that's what has happened to professional hockey in Toronto. A half century of proud tradi- tion has been on the skids for the past decade, and that bothers me much more than just a losing season. But enough on the anxieties of this Christmas. It is time to put them aside, give thanks for what is still good and honourable, and wish all of, you the best of the season. Now, to tackle that Christmas shopping . . Miracle of Christmas (From page 5) transformed and transfigured in Christ. And in our celebrations we shall begin perhaps TINDALL -- HOLLAND { Miss Gloria Marie Tindall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Keith Tindall, of Aurora, and Mr. David Wayne Holland, son of Mrs. Lorraine Holland, Keswick, were united in marriage on September 22, 1984, at Wesley United Church, Vandorf. Rev. James Bushell officiated and Mrs. Jane Durward, aunt of the bride, was the organist. The bride entered the church on her father's arm looking very radiant. She wore her mother's gown of three tiered lace with spaghetti straps. The jacket was accented by her Grandmother Tindall's gold brooch. Her head- piece was a lace hat that held a finger veil at the back. The matron of honour was Miss Debbie Cook of Aurora. The bridesmaids were Miss Fran Cook of Bowmanville, and Miss Jennifer Skelton of Richmond Hill. They wore floor length gowns of apricot satin with a white chiffon overlay. The bridesmaids wore apricot halos and the maid of honour wore a small white hat accented with an apricot halo. The best man was Tom O'Rourke of Mississauga. The ushers were Terry Holland, brother of the groom and Kyle Tindall, brother of the bride. The happy couple left for the reception at the Aurora Community Centre, via horse and wagon, driven by the bride's uncle, Mr. Earl Durward of Sun- derland. 'For a honeymoon to North Bay, the bride wore a black suit with an ; apricot cotton blouse. Her accessories were black shoes and hat. A corsage i of apricot baby roses accented her outfit. 's The newlyweds are residing in Keswick. Out-of-town guests were 3 present from Alberta, Toronto, Port Perry and surrounding areas. The 3 bride's grandmother, Mrs. Marion Durward was also present. The floral § bouquets were all made by the bride. rd a a PN RA Ge | ! Hearing Aid (entre ¢f Port Perry SNOW PLOWING . Dennis J. Hogan ann By Contract or Hourly Hearing Aid Consultant sexe Dr. E. For there will be only gaiety and laughter ---- turkey dinners and gifts to open ---- there will also be generosity and compas- sion and thought for others. And perhaps, by God's grace, we shall let our religion run away with us for once! And if we then extend the truce of Christmas Day ---- which we gladly embrace for twenty-four hours ---- into the year that follows ---- there will be a new power of love, tolerance, wisdom, peace and happiness touching all our lives and work. Christmas is more than a tradition ---- more than an annual festivity ---- more than holly in the windows or a wreath on the door ---- more than trees loaded with tinsel and lights that sparkle ---- more than children whose stockings bulge with the love of others. Christmas is a miracle ---- God invading the shores of time. Christmas is magic ---- it makes the hardest of hearts a soft and loveable as a new-born baby. Christmas is Christ. If we take Christ out. of Christmas we have nothing left but an empty sym- bol and a hollow festival. May each and everyone have a Merry Christmas because Christ is in the centre.
