New chairman : for Arena Board Bob Jamieson of Port Perry is the new chair- man of the Scugog Arena Board. Board members selected Mr. Jamieson at the regular meeting held 'last Thursday evening. He will take over duties from Stan Glass, who has been arena chairman since the building opened in 1976. Mr. Glass will continue to serve as a member of the Board. Mr. Jamieson has been a board member for the last six years and is active in coaching and management with the Minor Hockey System in Port Perry. SREP gyn Building permits value down by 1.2 million The, value of all building permits issued in Scugog Township 'n 1984 went down by about $1.2 million from the previous year. _A year end building ac- tivity report issued last week by the municipali- ty shows there were 320 permits in 1984 with a total value of $8.783,225 In 1983. by comparison, the Township issued 378 permits valued at $10,057,163: The overall decline reflected a drop in all sectors, except one, in- dustrial and commer: cial, where there was a marked increase in ac- tivity over the previous year. The report shows 18 in- dustrial and commercial permits issued with a value of $825,000, com- pared with 17 having a value of $393,400 in 1983. By far the largest single sector for building permits was 'in new homes where the Township issued 89 per- mits having a value of $6,080,500. That's a decline from the 113 single family home per- mits issued in 1983 which had a total value of $6,822,000. The number of permits for additions and altera- tiens also declined last year. In this sector there were 92 permits issued with a value of $873,500, compared with 113 hav- ing a value of $990,000 the previous year. The same was true for garages and swimming pools which dropped trom 92 to 82 with a cor- responding dollar decline from $449,000 to $340,000. The . nber of agri- cultural permits also dip- ped in 1984 from 33 to 26 with a value of $621,000 in 1983 and $355,000 last vear. ' There were three per- mits issued in 1984 for schools and churches with a total value of $258,000. In 1983. the number issued was two, but they had a total value of $755,000. Permits not classified in the above sectors totalled 11 in 1984 with a value of $49,000. The previous year, there were eight such permits with a value of $16,000.
