At tournament in Bewdley Clock robs Bandits The 'Bandits' hockey team travelled to Bewdley on Jan. 25-26 for the second annual Bewdley Goodtimers Hockey Tournament. Ritchie LeFort won the MVP for . this game with his ex- cellent offensive and defensive style of hockey. The Bandits second game was at the early hours of Saturday morn- ing against a team from Lindsay. Lindsay was obviously awake and hungry as they opened up a 4-0 lead before the Bandits knew what hap- pened. When they did wake up it showed because within 1 period the Bandits scored 9 times giving them a 9-4 come from behind win. Scoring for the Bandits in game were Jobb 4, Fox 3, Taylor 1 and Prosser 1. With assists going to Lefort 4, Curran 3, Jobb 1, Prosser 1, Adam 1, Lycett 1 and B. Norton 1. Once again Don Card played very well in net for the Bandits. The Ban- dits 3rd game was the most important game for them of the tournament as they had to win to make the "A" Cham- pionship final. All the Bandits were up for this one as this has been' they're best tournament since Lake Placid last year. Canada Wire from Leaside, Toronto was the Bandits opposition in this contest. Brian Samis opened the scoring for the Bandits and then Canada Wire tied the score with anice goal. Ritchie LeFort then tallied for the Bandits on a nice play from Tim Kane. Canada Wire scored thirty-five seconds into the second period with a quick goal to tie the score again. Well it was end to end hockey for the twenty minutes with outstanding goaltending from both Port's goalie and Leaside's goalie. With only 4 minutes left Canada Wire took a penalty and with no stop time the clock just kep ticking away and by the time play resumed there was only 2 minutes left to play. When play got underway Bandits pulled their goalie giving them a two man advantage, but Canada Wire took another penalty and the player threw his stick at the ref and with this go- ing on the elock ran out and the score stayed at 2-2, this knocking the Bandits out of the tournament. Oh well, maybe next year. The tournament will have to stop time in the last few minutes when a game is so close and cruical. The Bandits' next tournament is in Newcastle on Feb. 16 with the Bandits first game at 11:00 a.m. Come on out and support the team. Ritchie LeFort was named the M.V.P. ~ for individual lan- downers.
