The following practices were recommended: have in- teresting meetings, wel- come the members, find out their interests, keep the members informed and active in the group and promote the organ- ization's program. Further discussion revealed that to be the most effective as a leader, one ha: to adjust to the leadership style to match the motivation and skill level of the group. For example, if the group was highly motivated and able to do a task, a lay back, non- interfering leadership style would be ap- propriate for the situa- tion. The day was organized by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food with sponsorship from the Durham West Junior Farmers. Fifty-six people repre- senting 27 rural organ- izations attended this very successful event.
