Heron The Kirk Guild have four interesting pro- jects underway - 'the first one is next Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. in the church hall called "A Birthday Party Fashion Show' put on by 'Childrens Market Place of Whitby." There will be door prizes and lunch and there will be babysit- ting available. For tickets, call Norma Engleton 655-3434. Then Tuesday April 9th at 8 p.m. there will be a gala Fashion Event called 'The Ritz' at the Thunderbird Golf and Country Club. Several stores from Oshawa will be presenting lovely things. A fun feature will be old-fashioned bathing suits on parade. There will be lots of prizes. For - tickets, call Joan Flem- ing 655-3900. On Wednesday May 29th there is to be a bus trip to Niagara-on-the- Lake where we will be able to see period restored shops. The Niagara apothecary pharmacy museum, and more, and there will be a time for lunch. Then to the Shaw Theatre at 2 p.m. for the performance of "The Madwoman of Chaillot," this is an en- chantingly entertaining comic fantasy. An old woman foils the plans of unscrupulous spectators to desecrate the beauty of Paris by drilling for oil beneath its streets. Then in June thereis a talent auction and coun- try fair coming up. Rais- ing the church roof should be an uplifting ex- perience, and the whole church and friends can 3, IR be involved in this pro- ject in June. More infor- mation later. The ladies Bible Class met last Wednesday evening at the home of Rose Heron with an at- tendance of 10. Aldene Wick, president con- ducted the meeting and read the scripture which led into the Bible Study talk given by Nellie Hopkins. Since there was no meeting in February on account of the storm, a program for the rest of the year was drawn up. Lunch was served and everyone had a good visit. Rev. McEntyre had surgery in Oshawa Hospital last Thursday and we all wish for him a speedy recovery. Rev. George Moore conducted the service on Sunday morning. He took his text from Philippians 4 Verses 6 and 7 and titl- ed his message "A Sure Cure for Worry." The scriptures were ready by Alfred Fisher and Lind- say Death. The choir sang "Standing On The Promises of God." Our sincere sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hopkins and family in the passing of Nellie's sister, Miss Edith Gostick last Friday. Congratulations to Mr. 'and Mrs. Bart Nelson (nee Nancy Richardson) of Centreton. They have a darling baby girl. A granddaughter for Eva and Arthur Richardson. Jack and Reta David- chuck and family, Mathew, Chantel and Stephen also Mathew's friend, Greg Gillespie of Oshawa, spent the winter break holiday skiing near Montreal. They also visited Reta's parents, "Mr. and Mrs. Keezer at Ottawa on their way home. Gerry and Bunny Cox moved from their home in the village to their new home on Duffs Road last Friday. Ron Ashton and Neil McEntyre enjoyed a few days skiing near Quebec City last week.
