The workers are happy to announce that the quality of daffodils is expected to be much bet- ter than in the past cou- ple of years due to im- proved weather in British Columbia. The High School Curl- ing concluded with the annual Mudcat Bonspiel in the March Break. The winning rink was com- posed of Dean Haugen, Natalie Green, Eugene Mackie and Shawn Hoskin. Second place went to Steve Taylor, Anne Hoogeveen, Tim Ubels and Jennifer Read while Rob Graham, Elaine Kelly, Scott Flet- cher and Kevin Gibson captured third place. Fourth place was won by Vince Mackie, Natalie Green, Lionel DeKnecht, Shawn Umphrey and Christine Bazarin. Dou- ble Take out prizes were won by Duane Stanley and Shawn Umphrey. Gary and Chris McConnell have return- ed home from a two week Rugby Tour from Anderson Collegiate when they visited Am- monford, Wales from where the folks come that visited Blackstock last summer. The tour included in all three stops in Wales and one in England. Congratulations to Jason Kyte who recently passed his Grade 8 piano exam. A General Motors Retirement Party was held for Roger Simmons at Steve's Steakhouse. Roger has been forced to retire because of poor health. Elsie and Sons, to cancer patients and their families by the Cancer Society after which Janice answered any questions we had and distributed many pamplets. The business meeting followed with the Feb. minutes, corres and report of the treasurer. A special thanks was extended to Neil Bailey who audited the books and to Barbara Byers who has done such an excellent job. A motion carried to make a donation to the Port Perry Community Hospital Auxiliary Bazaar. Dishes to replace the broken ones have been ordered and new exten- sion cords and tea kettles have been purchased. Roll call was "What Gets Your Irish Up" or "Tell An Irish Joke' and was well answered. We also discussed projects for the O.N.O. Following many interesting and ex- citing games of crokinole 'with Aileen VanCamp proving her skills, Elaine served the most delicious dessert luncheon and we discussed which of the theatres and events we would go to see. A former resident, Margaret (Beacock) Tarves passed away. She and her husband lived where Frank and Jennie Bailey now live. Do you remember? The funeral was on Saturday from Port Perry Funeral Chapel with Spring Inter- ment in Cartwright Union Cemetery. Many of our travellers from the area have returned home from Southern holidays. My apologies for not - reporting Kevin Trapp's serious surgery and hospitalization in Sun- nybrook Hospital follow- ing a hockey accident some time ago. I am hap- py to report now that Kevin is well on the way to complete recovery following a time of recuperation at home.
