8 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, March 26, 1985 Pine Ridge Garden Club into new season The Pineridgc Garden Club started into a brand new season of activities on Tuesday, March 5 with a pot luck supper. Following the delicious meal, new president, Mrs. Shirley Love, open- ed our business meeting by welcoming all who at- tended. Yearly member- ship was taken ($4.00 single/$6.00 family) and will be offered at our April meeting. All renewed and new memberships will have their names entered in a draw at our April meeting for a $15.00 gift certificate kindly donated b. the Feedlot Restaurant. Mr monthly competi- tion 'St. Patrick's Day" an arrangement featur- ing fresh green plant material was voted upon by the members. Win- ners were: 1. Alice Turcotte; 2. Kathy Petrie; 3. Grace Bajema. It was announced that plants are needed again for our plant table at the Port Perry Hospital Bazaar and also baked items for our bake sale table at our next meeting. Anyone donating these items please bring to our April meeting. Tickets are available for selling or purchasing from the executive 50 cents each or 3 for $1.00 for prize draws 1st prize - Austrian Pine donated by Mr. and Mrs. Hurtig; 2nd Merchandise Cer- tificate (value $25.00) donated by Analda Nursery; 3. Fruit basket donated by Port Perry IGA. Draw will take place at Nestleton Hall on Tuesday, April 2nd at 9:00 p.m. Shirley Love also an- nounced our bus trip on Friday, May 24th to Cullen Barns and Otto Richter Greenhouses in Goodwood. Tickets will be available at our April meeting at a cost of $6.00 per person. Better hurry - as our bus trips are very popular and fill up fast! Our next meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 2nd at 8:00 p.m. at Nestleton Hall with a bake sale, plant sale, monthly competition, prize draws and a most interesting and knowledgable speaker, Mrs. Richter, who is an authority on herbs. Our bus trip is a follow up to Mrs. Richter's talk on herbs and a chance to purchase herbs. This meeting will prove to be a very busy and in- teresting evening. Everyone is welcome!
