The second annual Jump Rope For Heart was even more suc- cessful this year than last with 80 people par- ticipating and a total of $2,353.65 raised in one day (that amount will be added to money already collected by the school in a door-to- door fundraising campaign, making a grand total of $3,653.65). Heron A miscellaneous shower was held in the community centre on Monday afternoon of last week to honour Miss Kathy Briscoe, who will be married to Mr. Tim Ives later this month. The hall was tastefully decorated for the oc- casin. Kathy was assisted by Rachel Eekhout; Isabel Dixon and Joan Fleming in opening and displaying the many pretty and useful gifts. Kathy graciously thanked everyone for their thoughtfulness and friendship. A lovely 'Best Wishes" cake and coffee was served. The happy couple will make their home in Ajax. There was a good turn out at Horticulture last Wednesday evening. Ken Brown's "Fun with Flora" got everyone mixed up and thinking hard and we learned a lot about gardening before the puzzle was solved. A panel of local expert gardeners, Fred Daw, Ken Brown, Margaret Davis and Bill Burgess gave a lot of information on planting and caring for the garden and there was also two films shown on planting the garden and how to make and rise compost. Lunch was prepared by Betty and Fred Brown. We would like to con gratulate Rachael Eekhout and George Harper. Wedding bells 'will ring for them on June 1st. We all wish them much happiness. Doug, Florence Ron and Arnold Ashton at- tended athe Perseud- Coolemann wedding in Toronto last Saturday with Arnold being the soloist and organist. Mr. and Mrs. W. Gard- ner visited with Ber- nice's brother, Mr. Douglas Taylor, and other relatives in Guelph last Thursday. Ted and Rose Heron visited with Bill and Doris McAndless and family last Friday also attended the North Metro Sweet Adelines Concert in the evening. Mrs. Lloyd Pugh of Pickering visited with mrs. D.
