So tonight, Wed. the Women's Institute meets at the Community Hall at 7:30 p.m. This is a little earlier than usual holding a bake sale and will thus prove the results of their latest course. Therefore, we trust the ladies will patronzie and encourage them. For the rest of the evening, Alva Thompson will conduct the program. Now we take you to the weekend when the Scugog Choir will pre- sent something new in the way of a concert. Fri- day night in the Com- munity Hall and then a dinner and concert on Sat. night also in the Community Hall. Refer to the ad for details. Last Sat. night was a different kind of dinner when the Stewards of the Island United hosted a special dinner for a full house of adults at the Community hall and the children's own dinner at the church in an effort to raise money for the Building Fund. We thank all the people who sup- ported this venture. Some of these same people were out again bright and early to have their babies baptized at the Church. At this time Jan. and Jim Gerrow of Gerrow's Beach presented little Lisa Yvonne, Mark and Den- na (Ballard) Howsam just off Con. 6 E presented little Devon Mark. Also little Kristian James was presented by his parents, Donald and Penny (Prentice) Pet- typiece of Sunset Beach. Of course, many grand- parents were able to be present to witness this special occasion. Next Sunday April 21, the- Congregation of Scugog United will re- main after the Service to deal with the building project. There will be a vaca- tion Bible School for 1 week this summer at the Island United. Consider if you would like to be a teacher for this period. The ones we know of are Lenore Blueman, Marion Hughes, John Beckett, Bob Thomson (Highway 7A) following appendix surgery, Bill Jeffrey, Chuck Preston following possible heart problems, and Clare Thompson. We wish to extend sympathy to Mr. Bill Middleton Rd. 5 E and - family for the weekend berearvement of a sister following a stroke, a few months ago. It was a very successful event, as we raised $2,350.00. We also raised $1,300 for the door to door canvassing! We would also like to thank the 1.G.A. who donated the apple juice, and Dowson's Valu-Mart who donated the cookies. Our after-exam-dance will be held on Friday, April the 19th from 8:00 - 11:30 p.m. Tickets are $3.50 with an I.D. card and $4.00 without. Guest passes maybe obtained by a firend from Cartwright. Don't forget that the formal is planned for Saturday, May 11th from 9:00 - 1:00 p.m. at the Cartwright Public School. Tickets are $5.00 per person and $10.00 a couple. Reminders: Option sheets are due on Wednesday and there are still some students who haven't paid for their yearbooks. Cartwright High School will be offering new courses next year in grade 12 Law, Grade 12 Computer Science,and another Grade 11 English course in writing and Comprehension. Congratulations to many of our senior students who have received conditional ac- ceptances from the varous colleges. We are holding a school name contest, so if. anyone has any original ideas, then please get them in!! The name will be used for school teams and tompetitions. Test days are this Thursday and Friday, so good luck everyone! Drama night was held on Thursday and Friday night, with our house leagues presenting three one-act plays. The plays were judged on Friday night, with the best play being "Married at Sunrise' by the Alicats. The best actor was presented to Norman Schnavel and the second actor was Bryon Read. The best actress was Debbie VanCamp and the runner up was Carol Lewerentz. Congratula tions to all of the actors and actresses who put on such a fantastic show.
