The festivities were held in Nightingale Centennial Temple, Bowmanville, with a great number of friends on hand for the occasion to pay tribute to Sister Eleanor. Worthy Patron Wilson Pring was the master of ceremonies. Grand Of- ficers and her own Chapter members spoke of Eleanor's ability and all she has accomplished during the year. A dedicated person she has performed her duties with dignity and brought honour to our fine Order. Indeed - her contribution has been immeasurable! The beautiful vocal solos by P.M. Jean Simp- son accompanied by W.M. Betty Dowden and the saxaphone solos by P.G.P. Brian Lee were nostalgic and heart warming. . Sister Eleanor's fami- ly were present - her hus- band Len, and the fami- ly, also her brother. After the ceremonies concluded the assembly retired to the lower hall where delicious food in abundance was enjoyed by all present, topped off with tea and coffee, prepared by the commit- tee in charge. Allin all a very special evening! Nestleton Women's Institute Spring Sale A Success The Nestleton Branch met in the Community Centre for the May meeting with Pres. Nor- ma Frew welcoming ten members and seven visitors. She opened in regular form with the Ode, Mary Stewart Col- lect and read a poem en- titled 'My Country - right or wrong." Pianist Winnifred Davison. Roll Call 'was answered by naming an advantage a girl of today has which grandma lacked. Minutes were approved as read by Sec'y-Treas. Marg. France and she gave the financial state- ment. The District An- nual for Durham West will be held in Trinity United Church, Bowmanville, Monday May 13. Several members plan to attend. A donation was voted to assist the Community playground. O Canada and the W.1. Grace was sung to close this part of the meeting. A plant and bake sale proved interesting with Rika Wygerde the capable auctioneer assisted by Bertha McLaughlin. Proceeds amounted to $70.90. A nice lunch was served by the executive. Dale Davis - taking the "call to wor- ship" and reading the portions of Scripture. Norma Frew and Ken Weir assisted in the Nursery. Choir number, "Help Somebody To- day."
