Any articles you may have to donate call 986-5685 or 986-4728 and the Lions will arrange a pickup. Another showing of the play - "Barefoot in the Park' will be held Fri- day May 31, 8 p.m. at the Rec Centre. Admission is $4.00 per person. The merry month - the month of May is moving along - and we trust one and all had a happy, safe Victoria Day weekend - the first glorious holiday of the season. United Church Women Meet The May meeting of the Nestleton U.C.W. met at the new home of Leona Sadler with a smaller attendance than usual. Unit Leader Jean Williams opened the meeting with a poem en- titled, 'We do not walk alone" followed by a hymn. Bernice Mairs gave the inspirational Devotional taken from Psalms and Programs for women, the theme - "Happiness is..."" with several members reading verses of Scrip- ture. Bernice explained how many new and wonderful ways we have of enjoying happiness. Roll Call - a tribute to Mother. Minutes were read and adopted. Jean Williams presented the Treasurer's statement in the absence of Neta Fish. Over $1200.00 was cleared on the Spring Smorgasbord and members discussed ways to improve the sup- per in the coming year - to be held early in May. $60.00 is to be sent to Mis- sions at the appropiate time. A decision was made to make a charge of $5.00 for rent of lun- choen cloths. The September meeting will be held in the church basement on Sept. 11 at 7:30 p.m. Bernice, Gwen and Leona volunteered to make plans for the lunch. Collection amounted to $7.00. A hymn was sung and the meeting closed with Mizpah Benedic- tion. A social hour was enjoyed with a lovely lunch prepared by Doris Rohrer. Marion Hall gave a vote of apprecia- tion to all. Executive of Nestleton General U.C.W. Meeting On Thursday afternoon the Executive met at the home of the President Gwen Malcolm. Plans for a June Dessert lun- cheon were cancelled as the guest speaker is unable to come due to ill health. The group decid- ed to have a Bake Table at the Flea Market, June 22 at Nestleton Com- munity Centre and to ex- plore the possibility of a Musical Evening in the fall. Meeting closed with Mizpah Benediction, followed by coffee and a social time. Family News Barry and Joan Malcolm of Simcoe, were guests on the weekend with his parents, Lawrence and Gwen Malcolm, Nestleton. Other recent guests for dinner were Stanley Malcolm, Port Perry; Dennis and Laina Malcolm, and Jove and Leta Michelle of Ajax. Norm and Bernice Mairs, Nestleton, had an interesting couple of days last week visiting with Bernice's family at Sundridge. While there they had a visit with Lewis and June Kent, Cecil and Thelma Kent and son Jim, and her sister Violet and Reg Milne. A great get-to-gether! Neta Fish, Nestleton, spent a few days with her daughter Marlene Ban- nister and family of Peterborough during the past week. A 'highlight' for Neta - she very much enjoyed seeing her granddaughter Vicki - a Come and visit our booth at ... va MW IQ \ 2 Job Uxposi aon wiv, Grade 8 student - who participated in a school play. The performance was held for three even- ings at the Prince of Wales School where Vicki attends classes. Our congratulations! Perhaps a star in the making! | Neta "hosted" her family for Mother's Day. Those attending were: Calvin and Yvonne Holland, Chad, Craig and Alanna Dawn of Bowmanville, Jim and Audrey Leishman, Jamie, Michael, and W.D. of Reaboro, and Marlene Bannister of Peterborough. Sam and Mabel Cawker of Scugog Point Rd., stepped off the farm this week and visited some of their family. They enjoyed noon lun- cheon with Alan and Eleanor Cawker and Christie, called on Lea Kitchen and her lovely little daughter Jessica Danielle, (our latest great granddaughter) - then had a bountiful din- ner with Grant and Mer- na Cawker and Cathy all of Oshawa. A great day! Company for the Vic- toria Day holiday with John and Marion Hall, Williams Point, was Mrs. Margaret Duncan of Whitby. Rebecca Hall, Port Perry turned six years old this past week and her mother had a party for her with eight little girls and grandma - PORT PERRY STAR -- Wed. Caesarea Community Church A very good congrega- tion for the 3rd anniver- sary Sunday at Caesarea Church on May 19, 11 a.m. The service was conducted by Rev. Charles Clarke of Prince Albert taking as his topic "The Force of the Strengthening Angel," Luke 22: 43. The story of the Angel appearing and Jesus giving the needed strength. Rev. W.H. Crawford D.D. was the organist. Robert Heayn - Responsive Reading. Next Sunday at 11 a.m. Caesarea Card Party On Wednesday even- ing an interesting game 'of cards and the winners were: First prize - a tie - with Pearl Day and Dorothy Edwards each having 89. Second - Faith Lawrence - 78. Low - Kathleen Watts - 43. A social evening followed over refreshments. Cartwright Scouts This coming Saturday the Cartwright Scouts will be having a bottle drive taking in Caesarea, Nestleton and Black- stock. The proceeds from the drive will be going to the Boy Scouts for the Canadian Jamboree which will be held in Guelph, July 3 to July 12. Be as supportive as you can to help the boys TRADE / HOME SHOW along. It would be appreciated. Nestleton United Church A very fine attendance at Nestleton United Church on Sunday, May 19. Greeting at the door were Glenn and Arlene Malcolm and girls. Bar- bara Weir assisting the minister read the Scrip- ture taken from 1 Peter to 11 Samuel. Rev. Dale Davis presented an ex- cellent message on 'Stewardship is..." - a very broad subject deal- ing with many phases of Church work. The child- ren"s theme was in- teresting as usual for the S. School. The choir sang "In The Garden" - Ber- nice Mairs and Janice MacKenzie taking the last verse as a duet. Lovely pots of Mums graced the front of the church placed by U.C.W. members. Nursery - Glenn Malcolm and Dwight Davis. This Wed. DEEGAN Barefoot in the Park showing set evening - 8 p.m. Nestleton Council will meet in the Church. An Enjoyable Experience Paul Dearborn, Scugog Point, recently spent a week in Clyde River, Baffin Island, as 'the guest of the family of Eli Qillaq. He was part of a Cultural exchange with fourteen other Grade 10 Geography students. Clyde River, a Nor- thwest Territories, is located 2200 air miles from Toronto and is above the Artic Circle. Paul was most impress- ed by the twenty - four hour daylight - and Eli seemed to enjoy the lower prices of food. It was a very enjoyable experience for all thirty students involved and Paul would like to thank Mr. Jones for giving him the chance to be involv- ed with the 1985 Clyde - Port Perry exchange.
