10 -- PORT PERRY STAR -- Tuesday, May 28, 1985 It's been a family visiting kind of a week Nestleton-Caesarea News by Mabel Cawker Interesting Family News Ralph and Leona . Sadler of Nestleton, are enjoying a few days with daughter Gloria Scott, Charles and Jennifer of Corbyville, while hus band lan is in Scotland Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wilson, Fenelon Falls, were Wednesday evening guests with Ralph and Leona. Sympathy is extended to Richard and Janice MacKenzie of Nestleton, in the death of Richard's aunt, Miss Beatrice O'Reilly of Toronto. They attended the funeral over the weekend. Sympathy goes out friend Marion Bell of Port Perry, and the family, in the passing of husband and father Tom Bell this past week. He had been ill for a period of four years. A fine man and a good friend. Tom will be greatly missed by a host of friends. Better health is wished for Dorothy Archer, Janetville, and well known in these parts, who has been hospitaliz- ed since March 17 - first in Port Perry Communi- ty Hospital and later transferred to Oshawa General Hospital where she presently is taking therapy. Our thoughts are with you Dorothy! Sam and Mabel Cawker, Scugog Poin Road, enjoyed the weekend immensely with a few of the family members on hand to liven things up. Guests were: Arthur and Carroll Cawker, Cheryl and Bryan of Sudbury, from Friday to Sunday- Grant and Merna Cawker and Cathy of Oshawa for Sun- day lunch. On Saturday evening we dined at Haugen's F estaurant at Manchester , later calling on Jim and Marion Cawker- also having a visit with Chas. and Nell Cawker of Scarborough, who were spending a few days with the Jim Cawkers. Alt the Wednesday evening euchre the lucky winners were as follows: First prize- Linda Min- shall with 92. Second prize- Debbie Oppers- 85. Third- Val Prieve- 44. A very good attendance. June 22nd, the Caesarea l.adies Auxiliary will hold a Yard Sale and draw on the Cabbage Patch doll. Keep this event in mind and sup- port the hard working members of the Aux- ihary if at all possible. More news re- Yard Sale at a later date. Blue Ray Chapter Hosts Presiding Night Blue Ray Chapter, No. 238, O.E.S. hosted a most enjoyable Presiding Matrons and Patrons night in May with a splendid attendance. The opening ceremonies were conducted by W.M. Sister Joyce Taylor assisted in the East by acting W.P. Brother Wilfred Alexander. Special guests introduc- ed were D-D-G:-M- Sister Eleanor Jones, P.D.D.G.M. Sister Erline Finnie of District No. Il and Sister Cummings from District 19. A number of presiding Matrons and Patrons were given a warm greeting by Sister Joyce. Brother Wilfred welcom- ed Blue Ray members most cordially. Associate Matrons were welcomed by A.M. Marguerite Mit- chell. During business a brief, concise report on the Lions dinner was presented by Marguerite, and she thanked those who assisted. Sick and: Sun- shine reports show good progress being made by those who have been ill. Chaplain Marjorie McCombe visited the Nursing Home recently with treats from the Chapter and requested the members to bring along some chocolate bars for the June meeting as members plan to visit the Home again. Marjorie McCombe also had a grocery draw- the pro- ceeds for Estarl. A sizeable cheque was sent to Grand Chapter for the Ministry Awards. The trustee report was given by Elsie Wilbur and they are purchasing needed supplies and new flowers for the pedestals. A dona- tion was voted to the Kidney foundation. A class of instruction for new members is to be held in the near future under the direction of Marj Jeffrey and Elsie Wilbur. The W.M. Joyce gave an appropriate verse for Mother's Day. After clos- ing in regular style, a lovely lunch was served by Kay Walker and Isabel Wilson and com- mittee. The table looked very pretty with (fle ad- dition of spring flowers. Another fine evening for Blue Ray. See you at the 37th birthday party on June 13. Women's Institute Annual Meeting -- Ontario South On Thursday, May 23, the 86th District Annual of Ontario South was held with the Whitby Branch the hostesses for the event with a fine at- tendance. The day long meeting was held in St Andrews Presbyterian Church with President Mrs. Alva Thompson, Port Perry, presiding assisted by the' Secretary-Treasurer Mrs. Bernice Andrews from Cannington. Con- venors again had splen- did reports and the Fro- vincial Board Director Mrs. Louella Lewis of Mount Albert gave an ex- cellent report of pro- ceedings from the Board. During the luncheon at noon, officers from Cen- tral Ontario Area, the four York District of- ficers and Ontario North District Officers were in- troduced and welcomed. Mrs. Beverly Brooks, Rural Organizations specialist was presented with a gift as she will be moving to Ottawa. We shall miss Bev very much. A half hour of entertainment was pro- vided at the noon hour by Mrs. Dorothy Manderson and Jean Stackow- a real team of musicians. Talk about humour- they were good! A very fitting tribute to the departed members was given by Jo Smith and Bessie Acton of Whitby During elections- capably handl- ed by Mrs. Ila Weller of Ont. North District- quite a number of new Officers were elected. Year 1985-86 should be a ban- ner year 'For Home and Country." Nestleton United Church On Pentecost Sunday, Russell and Edda Bowman greeted at the door, welcoming a good number of Church members, Sunday School and visitors. The choir sang "'The Beautiful Garden of Prayer." Miss Arlene Davis read the Scriptures and Rev. Dale Davis gave a challenging sermon on Pentecost. 'Ask, Seek, and Knock." Jean Williams and Ken Weir- nursery. Next Sun- day, June 2, 11:15 a.m. will be Sunday School Anniversary Service at Nestleton with Elaine Barber, Student Minister the guest speaker. Try to attend to encourage our Sunday School pupils and . teachers. They have prepared a worthwhile service with special music. Mark your calen- dar that Sunday, June 16, is the Outdoor Church Service and Congrega- tonal Picnic. A warm welcome to Mrs. Colwell and her three children (from the W. Jackson farm) who attended church on Sunday.
