On Thursday evening a huge crowd attended the Music Night held at C.C.P.S. when the Primary Junior and In- termediate choirs as well as the Recorder Groups, the various band groups all participated in creating a fine pro- gramme. As well several duets and solos both vocal and instrumental added to the evening's enjoyment. Congratula- tions to the staff and students for such an en- joyable evening's entertainment. The annual Sunday School anniversary ser- vice was held on Sunday at Blackstock United Church. The service was conducted by Superinten- dent Ruby VanCamp. Many Sunday School children also par- ticipated in the service. The message was presented by Elaine Barber, the student minister who was with us in the winter months. Following the service everyone paraded to the parking lot to see the launching of many balloons which were fill- ed with the spirit. The annual Anglican Church supper was a fine success. "We are pleased that there is a lifetime capital gains tax exemption of $500,000. That will help many farmers retire with dignity. But what about helping farmers stay in business?" Pelissero said the unspecified $50 million a year cut in agricultural expenditures "is a slap in the face of an industry that desperately needs a helping hand. Farmers need opportunities to sur- vive and grow in these difficult times." Statistics don't tell the full story about the economic pressure affec- ting farmers. "'I've per- sonally witnessed the growing frustration, the disillusionment of countless Ontario farmers. 1 was hoping the government would keep the promises it made during the election 2 => GUESS THE NUMBER OF PENNIES IN THE JAR AND WIN UP TO $300.00 TOWARDS A CUSTOM RING OF YOUR CHOICE! Agri-bonds: Would establish an agri-bond program. Farm Credit Corporation: FCC would take into account costs of farming. Interest sub- sidies to reflect costs to beginning farmers of re- cent years. Fuel Taxes: Would remove the 9 per cent federal sales tax and not collect the cur- rent excise tax. Capital Gains: Would abolish sale of farm property for continued agricultural use. Section 31: Would change Séction 31 of the Income Tax Act to "reflect the principles of equity. neutrality, simplicity and certainty "Mr Wilson's reason- mg as totaly inc prehensible,"" Pelissero said. He quoted Mr. Mulroney who In January, said, I don't know that there's an area of our national economic life where there has been a greater productivity increase in the last 15 years than Canadian agriculture. 1 don't know of a sector that has received less in return in terms of reward for that in- dividual effort." **This is a total contradiction to ~ Mr. Wilson's claims that capital gains tax on the. : this budget 'places the emphasis on rewarding success rather than sub- sidizing effort'," Pelissero said, i . : vik A , ou.
