She is the daughter of Jack and Karel Not- tingham of Port Perry. Our congratulations to Lisa! Nestleton Women's Institute Hold Interesting Meeting The Nestleton W.I Branch met at the Com- munity Centre, Wed. June 5 at 1:30 p.m. Presi- dent Mrs. Don Frew brought the meeting to order with a warm welcome to members and guests. Following the Ode and Mary Stewart Collect she read a short poem by Carl Sandberg The Roll Call State one way the Atomic age 1s changing our lives - brought forth interesting replies. The beneficial Micro wave oven, ultra sound, satellites, computers, ete. were balanced by the fear of nuclear holocaust Minutes were read by Mrs. R France, and ap- proved and an encourag- ing financial statement given. District Director Mrs. R Davison brought an excellent report of the District Annual Four members plan to attend the 85th Anniversary of Bowmanville WI. on June 6 During the business period, plans for a display at Blackstock Fair were discussed. Members voted to continue to donate the prize for most improvement in writing at Public School Gradua- tion. The August 14th meeting is to be a trip to Lindsay for lunch and Academy Theatre pro- duction of the comedy "Cake Walk" Citizen- ship and World Affairs convenor Mrs. G. Fish planned the following programme. The Motto - The hand- clasp of friendship out- shines the Peace Treaty - was presented by Mrs. I.. Malcolm. She stated that this ideal world will 'not be realized in our lifetime. With reference to an article in current Reader's Digest she discussed the nuclear war issues. Two readings were presented by Mrs. H. McLaughlin - "What Have You Given Away" and The Value of Frankness."' The meeting closed with O Canada and the Women's Institute Grace. Dainty refreshments were serv- ed by Mrs. H. McLaughlin and Mrs. R. Davison. The apprecition was expressed by Mrs. R. France. Next meeting July 3 will be held at the home of Mrs. J. Wygerde when a film will be shown. Visitors are always welcome. Caesarea Card Night At the Wed., evening euchre the results are as follows: First prize win- ner - Doris Rohrer with a score of 105. Second prize - Roy Werry - 84. Low score - Patti Thistle 43. A good attendance and an enjoyable evening. Keep in mind the Yard Sale sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary on June 22nd. Anyone wishing to donate items for the ° Yard Sale - they can be left at the Community Centre between 6-8 p.m on Friday. June 21st A Bake sale will be a feature of interest and pop will be for sale Tickets are for sale at Sunnyside Market, Caesarea Post Office, and. from Auxiliary members. Give your sup- port to the hard working Auxihary - they are most deserving. Trust this venture will be a real success. A Regatta meeting was. held on Sunday, June 9 at the home of Len Prout, Caesarea, to plan the Annual Golf Tourna- ment which will be held July 27, 9:15 a.m. at the Pine Ridge Golf Club, Port Perry. Another meeting has been scheduled for June 15, 7 - 8 p.m. at Len's home. Nestleton United Church A fair congregation at Nestleton United Church on Sunday morning, June 9 for the 60th an- niversary of the United Church of Canada. David and Regenia Walker and children greeted at the door. Quite a few visitors were welcomed. Clerk of Session Lawrence . Malcolm opened the ser- vice. In the choir a trio sang. 'Near To The Heart of God' - organist - Gwen Malcolm. Rev. Convention Attended Last week Norm and Bernice Mairs of Nestleton, attended the annual committee of Ad- justment Convention held at Cambridge. On- tario. Spouses were treated to a tour of the Elmira and St. Jacobs areas and a few of the factory outlet stores to shop. The tour guide on the bus provided an in- formative talk of the old time Mennonites and the more modern ones. Tues- day night Charlie Far- quharson entertained after the banquet which was enjoyed by all pre- sent. A very pleasant change for a few days! On Sunday, Norm and Bernice Mairs, Nestleton and Diane Slute, Jeremy Jay and Julie of R.R.1, Oshawa, attended the 21st Cooper reunion (Norm's mother's descendents) held at Bolton. Due to rain - they had the meal in a school gym - then the sun came out and they enjoyed the fun and games. Caesarea Community Church On Sunday morning, June 9, 11 a.m. an average congregation at Caesarea church with Rev. Charles Clarke preaching the sermon entitled **What God asks of every person,' taken from Acts, Ch.9. Daniel Pugh Jr. read the scrip- ture. Rev. W.H. Crawford D.D. played the organ for the service. A Dedication service will be a feature next Sun- day Mrs. W.H. Crawford has been a patient in Port Perry Hospital this past week. Best Wishes for improved health. Community News Yours truly was in- vited to be guest speaker at the delightful dinner party hosted by the Bowmanville Women's Institute to celebrate their 85th anniversary on Thurs last held in Trini- ty Church Hall. A full week for Neta' Farewell Party Nestleton friends and neighbours held a lovely going away' party for Bruce and Marilyn Dickson. David and Brian on Friday evening in the Nestleton Com- munity Centre. Many friends were on hand to bid them farewell and extend warmest wishes for their future life in Burlington. They have been store-keepers in Nestleton for 8 years For the evening pro- gramme - Gail Hiemstra was the emcee and Anne Lee made the presenta- tion of a gift of money to Bruce and Marilyn. To top it off, a table groan- ing with an assortment ot delicious food - buffet style - along with good hot coffee was enjoyed at the close of the evening. As Bruce and Marilyn and boys take up residence in Burlington - we wish them good health and success for the future and trust they will return now and then for a visit. We shall miss them!
